Crunchyroll situation just keeps getting worse. They were just caught red-handed using AI to generate dub captions - outed by their own increasingly terrible quality control!
Crunchyroll's episode 6 dub release of The Banished Court Magician was late, probably due to some internal issues. When it finally went up, the primary JP-EN subtitle track had been accidentally replaced with a dub closed caption track revealing Ollang in the file headers.

Important update: I have received word from insiders that Crunchyroll executives have deemed the user backlash to this to be small enough that their subtitle enshittification & OOONA plans will NOT be cancelled, only slightly delayed.
I have updated the article about this.
Going to reiterate that anyone claiming to be friends with me in order to talk to you (a fan) in private to solicit for sexual content and such is most likely a predator. I've been super open about the fact that I don't befriend fans on Discord! Please watch out for these weirdos
