Crunchyroll situation just keeps getting worse. They were just caught red-handed using AI to generate dub captions - outed by their own increasingly terrible quality control!
Crunchyroll's episode 6 dub release of The Banished Court Magician was late, probably due to some internal issues. When it finally went up, the primary JP-EN subtitle track had been accidentally replaced with a dub closed caption track revealing Ollang in the file headers.

Important update: I have received word from insiders that Crunchyroll executives have deemed the user backlash to this to be small enough that their subtitle enshittification & OOONA plans will NOT be cancelled, only slightly delayed.
