In accordance with our prior agreement with the Russian government, we have today taken delivery of the first twelve Su-35 4++ Generation fighter jets. Additionally, Ethiopia will receive four S-400 air defense system batteries.
I would like to express my gratitude to my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his dedication in ensuring we received these warplanes a year ahead of our agreed schedule. By equipping itself with these fighter jets, Ethiopia has taken the lead among Sub-Saharan African nations.

Today, my heart is overflowing with joy. Yohannes Abraha, a.k.a. John Black, has been released from prison in the Netherlands after spending more than 500 days in detention.
I cannot fully express how happy I am to hear this news. For over two years, we fought on Twitter/X, demanding his release, raising our voices, and refusing to let his case fade into silence. We stood firm in our demand for his freedom.
Whether our collective efforts contributed to this outcome or not, one thing matters most to me today: JOHN IS FREE! And for that, I am genuinely, personally, and overwhelmingly happy.
