Marta iba a Huelva a recoger un premio.
Era hija de un hombre que huyó de Irán escapando de los ayatolás. Ese hombre se hizo una vida en León, y su hija acabó dirigiendo su propio laboratorio en Cambridge, en uno de los centros científicos más prestigiosos del mundo.
Marta estudiaba cómo empieza una persona. Cómo de una sola célula sale un ser humano entero y complejísimo. Su equipo consiguió algo que nadie había hecho antes: mantener vivos embriones humanos 13 días fuera del útero.
Trece días que enseñaron más sobre el principio de la vida que décadas enteras de teorías.
La llamaban una de las científicas españolas más brillantes de su generación. Tenía cuarenta y un años. Qué pena. Y qué rabia. Incomprensible.
Iba en el vagón 8. En ese mismo vagón viajaba Tamara, otra leonesa, otra científica, camino del mismo congreso. También fallecida.
Dos mujeres que dedicaron la vida a entender cómo empieza la vida. Las dos en el mismo tren. Y el mismo destino fatal.
El premio se lo entregaban el jueves. Un reconocimiento por su labor que hoy también le haremos todos nosotros.

Today is November 1st. Time is flying incredibly fast. The last month of autumn has begun.
Honestly, I didn’t even notice how the first two months of Seva’s school year went by. And do you know why? Because for almost an entire month, the children could barely study at all. They spent most of their time in shelters.
Today, we received a message from the school saying that, for now, the children will continue studying online. But even then, whenever there is an air raid alert, they are still expected to go to shelters.
I honestly don’t know what this month of schooling will look like. Air raid alerts are happening constantly, sometimes with just 20–30-minute breaks in between.

‼️ Warum kein zivilisiertes Militär und eigentlich überhaupt niemand bei Verstand es zulässt, dass irgendwelche Spinner ihre Kalaschnikow in die Luft halten und nach oben feuern, hat viele Gründe, aber ein wesentlicher ist der folgende:
Wenn man beispielsweise mit einer Kalaschnikow in die Luft schießt, dann beschreibt das Geschoss eine Parabel. In einem Vakuum würde es auf dem Boden mit der gleichen Geschwindigkeit auftreffen, mit der es abgefeuert worden ist (700–715 m/s für die 7,62×39-mm-Patrone = 2574 km/h). Durch den Luftwiderstand wird das gemildert. Die tatsächliche Endgeschwindigkeit (terminal velocity) beträgt aber immer noch um die 60–90 m/s (ca. 200–300 ft/s bzw. 220–320 km/h), wenn sie taumelt. Stabiler fallend (z. B. Basis voran oder bei extremer Windstille) bis ca. 100–150 m/s.
Diese Endgeschwindigkeit reicht aus, um Haut zu durchdringen (Schwelle grob 45–60 m/s) und bei Treffern am Kopf auch den Schädel. Es gibt zahlreiche dokumentierte Verletzungen und Todesfälle durch „celebratory gunfire“ – gerade weil die Geschosse häufig von oben auf den Kopf treffen. Die Sterblichkeitsrate bei solchen Treffern ist höher als bei normalen Schusswunden.
Das zeigt keine Dummheit, denn mit Waffen sind die Leute in Gaza vertraut. Es zeigt die unfassbare Rücksichtslosigkeit und die komplette Gleichgültigkeit gegenüber menschlichem Leben und Eigentum.
Und alle Arschlöcher hier im Westen dürfen sich mal fragen: Nach angeblich drei Jahren „Vernichtungskrieg“ und „Genozid“ hat eine paramilitärische Truppe in Gaza, wo ja angeblich nix reinkommt, genügend Munition, um einfach mal so in die Luft zu ballern? Ernsthaft?
Die Kosten einer einzigen Patrone für eine AK 47 werden wegen des Schwarzmarktpreises in Gaza auf 8–10 US-Dollar geschätzt. Einer einzigen Patrone. Munition ist teuer, wenn ich sie illegal reinschmuggeln muss, noch teurer. Deswegen darf ich auch mal jeden fragen, wer so etwas bezahlt und warum man sich das einfach mal so leisten kann?
This was a disturbing and deeply embarrassing scene in Gaza City today during the funeral of a man killed in an Israeli airstrike for allegedly being affiliated with Hamas. Members of his clan fired thousands of rounds into the air, initially causing panic and confusion among residents who did not understand what was happening. The spectacle of armed men recklessly discharging weapons sparked widespread anger and contempt among many Gazans, who viewed it as yet another example of the destructive behavior of powerful clans in the Strip.
The incident renewed calls to disarm Gaza's clans and militias and remove weapons from civilian hands to reduce crime, curb intra-Palestinian violence, strengthen the rule of law, and break patterns of behavior that fuel radicalization, intimidation, and the dominance of armed actors over civil society.
Many Palestinians bitterly note the irony that these same clans and armed strongmen, so eager to display their power before fellow Palestinians, tend to disappear when confronted by the Israeli military. Time and again, tribal militias, criminal gangs, and other armed actors avoid direct confrontation with the IDF, yet readily turn their weapons on other Palestinians, whether against Palestinian Authority forces in the past or, at times, even against Hamas itself.
There should be no tolerance for lawlessness. Neither "martyrs" nor their families have the right to terrorize an entire society in the name of archaic notions of honor, death glorification, or tribal privilege. Hamas and Gaza's powerful clans alike must be disarmed, for the sake of Palestinians and Israelis alike.

Ministr kultury se bojí přijít mezi osobnosti české kultury. Ceny, o jejichž udělení rozhodl, nechal pokoutně předat jakýmsi zástupcem. Vůči oceněným a celé kulturní obci je to tak trapné, ubohé a nedůstojné, že by to snad nikdo jiný než Klempíř nesvedl.
Klempíř nakonec na předávání cen nedorazil. Cenu spojenou s odměnou 300 tisíc korun odmítli převzít dva ocenění, pedagožka a umělkyně Anna Daučíková a rodina režiséra Juraje Herze.

Vždycky jsem si říkal, že přece nemohl existovat člověk, který by jenom tak v klídku mohl makat v koncentračním táboře. Člověku přece něco uvnitř brání chovat se takto k živým bytostem a večer v pohodě usnout. Tady je důkaz, že mohl. Tady Rajchl je doslova lidská zrůda, které by to problém nedělalo. Kouká mu to z očí, je to skyšet v jeho hlase a ten syfl na tváři to celé jen krásně podtrhuje. Tenhle člověk je reálně nebezpečný a nechápu, že vedle něj může kdokoli ze současné vlády byť jenom sedět a necítit potřebu vysrat se na nějaký pragmatismu a říct “Tak dost, ty už jsi i na mě fakt obludná bytost”. Už jenom z tohoto důvodu je aktuální vláda tou nejhorší, co tady kdy byla. Fakt, že se mezi nimi nenajde ani jeden, který by se rázně ozval, je totálně smutný příběh každého z nich.
