#Israel: Statement by the Spokesperson on the elections
The EU congratulates the Israeli people on yesterday’s elections, which saw a high voter turnout, reflecting Israel’s vibrant democracy.
Now begins a period of political negotiations to form the next Israeli government.
I remember very clearly where I was when I heard the news. It was a hammer blow. More than thirty years on, Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination remains a stark reminder of how fragile peace is, and of the courage it takes to make the difficult decisions needed to pursue it.
Honoured to open the European Night of Literature in Tel Aviv. Through stories, translation & dialogue, we celebrate Europe’s rich literary diversity and strengthen cultural exchange w/ Israel. May this evening inspire new readers, fresh perspectives & deeper mutual understanding
Honoured to join the annual olive harvest this morning and to meet inspiring Jewish & Arab women from @SindyannaG of Galilee, promoting fair trade & peace through olive oil. The harvest must unite communities. No one should fear violence or intimidation for cultivating their land
Really enjoyed @elongilad's lecture and had a go at learning some Romanian (tricky), Gaelic (very tricky) and Maltese (very very tricky). Working in a place with 24 official languages is great. And the cool thing is how well it functions!
What connects Hebrew and Europe’s languages? At #EuropeanDayOfLanguages, @elongilad revealed surprising linguistic links, while language exchanges showed how a few words can spark dialogue. Together with EU cultural institutes and embassies, we celebrated the power of diversity.
Had the privilege to attend the MARE MED IV Conference IMEC workshop. I presented the EU’s view of IMEC’s strategic priority in terms of economic security, green transition & regional cooperation, and encouraged the business sector to approach @EUinIsrael with questions and ideas

Journalist and award-winning author @amirtibon spoke to EU member states' ambassadors today. Thank you for sharing with us your family's ordeal surviving the Nahal Oz massacre, including your parents' heroism, and for your poignant insights on Israeli society and politics.

The EU has clear interest in stable, prosperous, and sovereign Lebanon.
We are backing this with substantial political, economic, and security support.
Our new European Union Support Mission to train and advise the Lebanese Armed Forces will be a major upgrade of our security ties.
EU Foreign Ministers will give the final green light to establish the mission next Monday.
My remarks in Beirut alongside @YoussefRaggi ↓
Although previous speakers and many in the audience at the @Jerusalem_Post Diplomatic Conference weren't pleased: I reiterated the united and unchanged position of the EU and all its member states: settlements are illegal under international law, and settler violence has to stop.
I was honoured to participate in the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism's Shabtai Shavit World Summit on Counter-Terrorism @ICT_org. I paid homage to the victims of Oct 7 and reiterated our positions on regional affairs, incl unwavering support for the 2-state solution

A moving moment at @Europarl_EN tonight as we remember the victims of the 7 October terrorist attack in Israel. We were joined by Omri Miran, who was taken from his loved ones and kept hostage by Hamas terrorists for 738 days.
His story is not one of tears, but of resilience. Of the triumph of hope in the bleakest of circumstances. Of the power of family and love to overcome. Of light in the darkness.
We remember. 🕯
The fate of the Bibas family is one of the most heartbreaking chapters of 7/10. The cruel abduction and eventual murder of Shira, Ariel & Kfir shocks our conscience. I was extremely moved to hear from Ofri Bibas Levi about the ordeal suffered by her brother Yarden. יהי זכרם ברוך

Today marks three years since the terrorist attacks of 7 October in Israel.
We honour the victims and stand with the families who still carry the heavy weight of grief.
We remember the young lives cut short at a music festival. And the long ordeal of the hostages.
The EU stands with all those whose lives were forever changed by that day.
The unspeakable savagery and terror of 7 October must never happen again.
The EU remains ready to help turn today’s fragile ceasefire into a durable peace, based on a two-state solution.
And remains equally convinced that nothing justifies terror.

Today we remember the victims of the horrific Hamas attacks of 7 October 2023 in Israel.
We pay tribute to the Israeli and foreign citizens massacred that day and stand with their families and loved ones. We also remember the injured and those taken hostage.
We will never forget. Nothing can justify such terror, and it must never happen again.
The EU will always defend Israel’s right to exist in peace and security. The two-State solution remains the only viable path to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

Today the world marks three years since that black October 7th 2023.
Since that fateful morning when Hamas terrorists massacred 1195 people in Israel. Since 251 people, including young children and the elderly, were dragged from their homes and taken hostage.
Some days stay with you. The scars are still raw for so many.
The @Europarl_EN remembers the victims of that day of horror as we recommit to ending terrorism, finding a path to peace and redoubling our efforts to stamp out the ancient evil of antisemitism.

The 7 October attacks were a barbaric act of terror. Today, we stand with Israel in remembering every life taken and destroyed at the hands of the Hamas terrorists.
Our thoughts are with the victims, the survivors, their families and all those who continue to carry the pain of that terrible day.
We must firmly reject any form of antisemitism across Europe. Jewish communities must be able to live openly, safely and without fear.
Hamas brought unspeakable suffering to the Israeli people and left devastation in its wake. Hamas must disarm so that the Gaza Peace Plan to move forward.
EU member states' ambassadors and I marked the 3rd anniversary of the Oct 7 terrorist attacks today in Nir Oz. One in every four members of this beautiful community was either killed or kidnapped, a heinous massacre that cannot be justified by any cause. We remember the victims🕯

On Israel’s National Memorial Day marking the events of October 7, the members of the European Union Delegation to the State of Israel bow their heads in memory of those murdered in the October 7 massacre and the victims of the devastating war.
We will remember them all. 🕯️

The @Europarl_EN is a place where everyone must feel safe, secure and protected.
We cannot have actions that could make people fearful of speaking; we cannot have damage to property and we cannot have attempts to intimidate rather than to debate.
At a time of rising global antisemitism, we owe it to Europe's Jewish community to ensure that when they look to us, they see that this is their House too.
