Toddler soccer star Nevada has a new home on the field. Former US Men’s National Team player Eddie Johnson saw the viral video of police being called to Nevada’s youth league game in Winter Park, Florida, and offered the 3 year old a spot in his Orlando training program starting in January. Johnson told Nevada the people who tried to take his dreams away made him the most famous 3 year old in the world instead. The family’s GoFundMe for his training has topped $20,500.

Remembering Ruby Dee on her birthday with love and gratitude.
An extraordinary artist and committed freedom fighter, Ruby used her voice to tell our stories, affirm our dignity and confront injustice.
Daddy considered Ruby and her husband, Ossie Davis, close personal friends. They helped raise funds and public support for his work and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
May we honor her by using our voices, our talents and our influence to serve others and advance justice.

This Australian's reply to Trump's rant about “NATO not being there for America” is perfect.
"Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.
You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you.
And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban in Afghanistan thanked you very much for losing again.
And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
'NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.
And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f----- mouth."

This 1966 photograph shows Danny Thomas with his wife Rose Marie and their children Marlo, Terre, and Tony. It looks like an ordinary family portrait. It is also the visible result of a promise made when he had almost nothing.
In 1937 Thomas was a struggling entertainer in Detroit. His wife had just given birth to their first child, Marlo, and he could not pay the hospital bill.
Walking the streets one cold November night, nearly broke and ashamed, he stepped into a church and put his last seven dollars into the poor box. Then he prayed to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes: show him the way, and he would build a shrine.
The next day he landed a job that paid ten times what he had given. It did not make him rich, but it kept his family afloat. It also convinced him that a promise made in desperation still mattered.
As his career grew through radio, film, and television, he never forgot it. When the time came to repay the vow, he did not build a statue. He built a hospital.
On February 4, 1962, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital opened in Memphis. It was the first fully integrated children’s hospital in the American South.
Thomas set one non-negotiable rule: no family would ever receive a bill—for treatment, travel, housing, or food. Parents had only one job: helping their child survive. At the time, childhood cancer survival rates hovered around 20 percent.
Betting everything on children most people believed could not be saved looked reckless. He bet anyway.
Rose Marie stood beside him through it all. Together they once traveled to 28 cities in 32 days, fundraising nonstop. It was not celebrity charity; it was gratitude turned into long-term work.
The results changed medicine. Today survival rates at St. Jude exceed 80 percent, and the hospital shares its research worldwide so children everywhere can benefit, not only those who can pay.
The children in the photograph carried the promise forward. Marlo Thomas became an actress and activist, a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, and the founder of St. Jude’s Thanks & Giving campaign.
Tony Thomas became one of television’s most successful producers and serves on the hospital’s board. Terre Thomas has supported ALSAC, St. Jude’s fundraising arm, for decades.
Danny Thomas died in 1991, two days after marking the hospital’s 29th anniversary with patients and families. He was buried on the grounds beside the shrine he had promised.
Rose Marie joined him there in 2000. Their children are still keeping the promise.
At the hospital’s dedication Thomas once said that if he were to die that minute, he would know why he was born.

She didn't monetize her sacrifice—she answered the call.
The Senate hearing room went cold when the insult landed.
Tammy Duckworth sat across from J.D. Vance, waiting for him to answer her question. She'd come prepared with policy, with specifics, with the kind of detailed inquiry that veterans' issues demand. But instead of engaging, Vance chose a different route. He compared her to Forrest Gump.
Let that sink in for a moment. A sitting senator, facing a decorated combat veteran who'd left parts of herself on an Iraqi battlefield, thought a fictional character was the appropriate reference.
Duckworth's response was surgical. She didn't raise her voice. She didn't need to. When you've piloted a Black Hawk helicopter through hostile fire, when you've felt the explosion that tears through metal and bone, when you've woken up in a hospital missing both legs and part of an arm, petty insults from small men barely register.
November 12, 2004. That's the day her helicopter was hit by an RPG over Iraq. She was co-piloting, focused on her mission, when the world turned to fire and shrapnel. The rocket-propelled grenade destroyed her aircraft and nearly destroyed her. Most people would have let that be the end of their service story.
Duckworth spent a year in recovery at Walter Reed. She learned to walk again on prosthetic legs. Then she went back to work.
No book tour about resilience. No cable news circuit trading on sacrifice. She didn't monetize her Purple Heart or turn her injuries into a personal brand. She served in the Illinois National Guard, then ran for office to continue serving in a different capacity.
Retired Lieutenant Colonel. Combat veteran. Purple Heart recipient. The first disabled woman elected to Congress, then to the Senate. The first senator to give birth while in office, bringing her newborn onto the Senate floor because the rules hadn't contemplated a working mother who'd also taken shrapnel for her country.
When Vance tried his cheap shot, she treated it exactly like what it was: noise from someone who'd never answered a question he found uncomfortable. She'd faced real danger. She knew the difference between actual courage and performance art patriotism.
That's who Tammy Duckworth is. Remember it.

Parents called the cops on a 3-year-old for being too good at soccer compared to other kids and wanted to have him kicked out of the league 😳⚽
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Police were called by the league director about the mother’s behavior. In the 911 call he described her as unruly, following him and calling him names while filming. The “too good at soccer” claim is the parents’ account of the dispute.
