We have a match! I’m going to be an ENT surgeon 😭😭😭 #otomatch #Match2021
This.
I wish I could call out those journalists from Oakland County (and West Bloomfield) that got it so wrong and were so intentionally misleading the public on @CNN and company.
For those outsiders that have been looking at the numbers coming out of Oakland County, I think this post helps explain part of the turnout for him. Abdul and his family are no strangers to the community here, regardless of how much mal actors tried to paint him as foreign.
Mike Lawler was one of the members of Congress who fought hard to keep sanctions on @SyrianResponse while it sought to recover after years of civil war and participated in many of the disinformation campaigns against it. Another loss to take note of.
“Wins in West Bloomfield” and “ahead….in Oakland County”
NEW: The @AbdulElSayed camp. tells me @HuffPost they are currently "feeling strong," pointing to wins in West Bloomfield, and running ahead of Slotkin margins in Oakland County. They say they are" exceeding expectations in contentious areas" + seeing massive turnout on campuses

This final effort to other Abdul El-Sayed is appalling, and a good antidote is to listen to the way he speaks about what being an American means to him. This is from our interview in September:
الإسم عبدالرحمن السيد.
#عاجل | عبدول السيد: أشعر بالتفاؤل بشأن موقفنا في الانتخابات لكن الفوز ليس محسوما والقرار النهائي بيد الناخبين

No. It’s “Michiganders” and we drink pop around these parts. I will die on this hill.

Hence the freakout. (From some
quarters.)
But folks: Engagement in our democracy from all Americans is a GOOD thing. 🇺🇸
I just voted in Precinct 20 in West Bloomfield. I have voted multiple times in this precinct including in presidential elections. This is the first time I have had to wait here. Packed to the max.
I just passed by Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield, where precincts 2 and 23. The parking lot is huge and students are off today. It was filled to the brim.

One reason that some establishment Dems are wary of Abdul is that he is a talented, brilliant, and dogged politician who will be a nationally impactful Senator.
This is incorrect, the decision was made at a round table meeting with a joint decision made on Saturday. I don’t know who was at that meeting, but my guess it probably included multiple leaders of the Michigan Democratic Party. Goes to show done for her political career is.

The stakes in Michigan: "Democrats should not be passive onlookers to this ugliness, as some have chosen to be. Doing so suggests that you do not understand the moment that we are in or – worse – accept Islamophobia as an inevitability" substack.com/home/post/p-222…

Replying to @jonathanchait
You both have it wrong. West Bloomfield has a considerable amount of both Jewish and Muslim Americans, around 30% and 14% respectively.
