Congratulations, Amy Acton! JD Vance foolishly tried to drag Somalis in Ohio into his political witch hunt, but look who’s losing his own home now! What a loser. The anti-Somali witch hunt ends here!
Democrat Amy Acton will be elected Ohio's next governor, CNN projects, defeating Republican Vivek Ramaswamy after the race garnered national attention over a controversial attack ad. Acton is the first Democrat to win Ohio's governorship since 2006 and the first woman ever elected to the office. Follow live updates. cnn.it/3UtsAze

Ohio has the second-largest Somali population in the United States, and it could turn blue as thousands of Somali Americans head to the polls in response to Trump’s remarks about Somali Americans! 💙🗳️
It’s worth noting that Ohio’s last Democratic governor was Ted Strickland, who was elected in 2006 and served from 2007 to 2011. That means Ohio hasn’t elected a Democratic governor in 20 years!
Could a strong Somali American voter turnout finally change that? 🙂
Somali voters in Ohio show strong turnout.
As voters across the United States head to the polls today, photos from Columbus, Ohio, show Somali voters who lined up over the weekend to cast their ballots during the final day of early voting in the midterm elections.
The photos, captured by Somali Diaspora TV, show Somali community members joining long lines of voters as Ohio recorded strong early voting turnout.
The turnout comes as Ohio voters decide major races for governor and the U.S. Senate.

Somali American voters in Ohio helped turn the state blue. According to unofficial ballot counts, more than 70,000 cast their votes. They showed up to ensure that hate would not be normalized in their community, turning out at a higher rate than in the previous two elections—six times the rate in the 2022 midterm election.

On October 30, 2026, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s government voted in favor of a Russian-drafted resolution at the UN Security Council that upheld the principle of self-determination for Western Sahara, leaving the possibility of independence open.
Ironically, on October 31, 2025, the same government voted in favor of a US-drafted resolution that made Morocco’s autonomy proposal the basis for negotiations and recognized autonomy as a potentially feasible solution under Moroccan sovereignty.
How can Hassan Sheikh be so casual about separatist movements elsewhere in Africa when the greatest threat to his own country’s territorial integrity comes from separatists and their agenda?
As Somalis, we oppose the breakup of any African country, for reasons that should be obvious to everyone.
I hope countries trying to drag Somalia into their disputes with neighboring states will stop taking advantage of our political situation. With the current government's term over and the country heading into an election season, Somalia should not be dragged into conflicts that are not ours or pressured to support causes we have no reason to support.

Somalis, you need to wake up! The Somali youth must open their eyes and pay attention to what is happening.
A Ugandan MP speaking to HSM reportedly said:
“If you, as President, bring the money that the UN used to pay, and Museveni agrees, we have no problem with our troops remaining in Somalia.”
In other words, as long as the money is paid, they are happy to stay.
This raises serious questions: Are foreign troops in Somalia serving Somalia’s interests, or is their continued presence ultimately about the money?
Somali youth, wake up! Our sovereignty, our security and our future must never be treated as a business transaction.

When I saw this video of Somali students in Somalia complaining that they spent 12 years in school without learning Somali history only other countries’ history and that they will soon have to study Swahili language I thought of this saying:
(The first step to wipe out a people is to erase their memory. Destroy their books, their culture, their history) Milan Kundera
Erasing a people’s history and language is one of the oldest ways to colonize them. Those who take over a place often hide, destroy, or rewrite its past so they can justify their control, break people’s sense of identity, and make resistance harder.
This is usually done in a few clear ways:
Destroying knowledge
They burn books, libraries, and schools, wipe out oral stories, and smash monuments. We saw all of them during the Somali civil war, where the schools, universities, and libraries were burned by USC/SNN/SSDF..etc
Forcing a foreign language
They push out the local language from schools and official life so the next generation loses connection to their own past. Now Swahili is being added in Somalia.
Changing the story
They describe the people as having no real history calling them savages or in our case call Somalis (uncivilized nomads) and hand Somali history and figures over to others, like Ethiopians and any other unknown ethnic groups.
Taking and rebranding culture
They steal historical objects, clothing, and symbols, then claim them as belonging to other groups or just call them East African culture.
This is how the colonization works.
#Somali students are protesting against the failure of the Somali Ministry of Education to prioritise Somali history in schools and colleges, while foreign history is being taught first. I swear to God, how on earth is foreign history considered more important than our own? 🇸🇴 This is a shocking failure of the Ministry of Education. Somalia is still suffering from a form of psychological colonisation when our own students have to protest just to learn their own history, heritage and identity.

🚨 OZEMPIC FACE EXPOSED… FIRST THEY SELL YOU THE DRUG, THEN THEY SELL THE FIX
First, they sell you the weight loss drug.
Now, the beauty industry wants to sell you the fix.
And people are connecting the dots.
The phenomenon known as "Ozempic face" has left some people dealing with hollow cheeks, sagging skin, and an aged appearance following rapid weight loss.
Now L'Oréal is selling skincare products designed to complement GLP-1 treatments.
And the timing has people raising eyebrows.
Meanwhile, lawsuits alleging serious complications, including digestive injuries and vision problems, are adding to concerns about these medications.
People see a disturbing business opportunity: one industry sells the weight loss, while another sells treatments for the aftermath.
Are we seriously supposed to believe it’s a coincidence that they sell you the weight loss drug, then make billions selling you the fix for your face?
