Guy was born in a refugee camp, made it to a top university, is a principled opponent of ethnonationalism, spent last year opposing one of the worst mass slaughter of civilians in this century, has a wife who is 8 months pregnant: he's pretty sympathetic to most normal people, much more so than the jokers who pushed the Iraq war and now write for the Bulwark.
Just remember that testing the waters by going after an unsavory or unsympathetic person's civil rights is a tried and true authoritarian tactic.

New namesake for the Army’s Ft Benning, GA was mayor of a Nebraska town when he shot a guy’s fingertip while inspecting a revolver. “It was an accident, or what in his Army days he might have called a negligent discharge.”
