25 years ago, terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people, including 2,753 New Yorkers.
As we remember that terrible day, let us also remember the first responders, office workers and strangers who ran toward danger to help each other. Let us remember the extraordinary compassion, resilience and bravery that carried our city through its darkest
day.
Today, New York remembers. We will Never Forget.

There's a new Sheriff in town.
Sheriff Edwin Raymond has dedicated his life to protecting the people of New York while bettering the institutions keeping us safe.
He grew up in East Flatbush, the son of Haitian immigrants. He became an NYPD officer to build bridges between the force and the communities they serve, and to write a new legacy for the NYPD. His life's work has been fighting for truth, justice, and safety.
I can think of no one better to serve as the Sheriff of the City of New York.

HAPPENING NOW: We’re on the ground with @mayorsCAU, @nycsheriff, @nypdnews, and @nycsanitation walking Jamaica Avenue, talking directly with residents & business owners about the real improvements in quality of life under this administration.
But progress doesn’t mean the mission is over—we’re identifying what’s next and staying laser-focused on results.
Jamaica is NYC’s front door—the first stop for millions arriving at JFK. That first impression must reflect the greatness of this city.
From shutting down illegal cannabis shops and unlawful vendors-to cracking down on reckless scooters—we’re committed to keeping this momentum going.

On behalf of all New Yorkers—thank you for rising to the challenge, answering the call, and stepping into a duty that few have the courage to take on. You’ve chosen a path of service and sacrifice.
We are proud of you. The city is behind you. Now, let’s go protect it.

In a few short months, “Operation Padlock to Protect” has closed hundreds of illegal smoke shops & seized numerous dangerous products, including hazardous vape products.
Today, with @NYCMayor Adams and @NYCSHERIFF Miranda, we announced the destruction of 1,200 pounds of illegal vape products. Through these operations, we successfully improve the quality of life for New Yorkers.
I thank Mayor Adams for giving us the tools and partners we need to get this done and I commend all those involved for their unwavering commitment to public safety.

Check it out! Here are the results of the successful collaboration between your NYPD, @NYCSHERIFF , and @FDNYFC . Unregulated cannabis greenhouses like these pose a serious threat to all New Yorkers. Not only is unregulated cannabis dangerous when it hits our streets, but the illegal renovations made to power these illicit operations create massive fire risks.
If you have any knowledge of similar activities, please reach out to your local precincts. We will take action, and we will give you the results you deserve!

'Operation Padlock to Protect' has already sealed the doors of 850+ illegal cannabis shops skirting laws and endangering our youth.
Earlier this week, the @NYCSHERIFF and Councilmember @GaleBrewer toured yet another shop we put out of business — this one was using a trap door and had numerous safety violations.

Following a burglary investigation in Astoria this week, our task force was alerted to a this warehouse where they found an estimated $5 million of illegal cannabis products.
Now this site is shut down and @NYCSHERIFF Lt. Francesca Rosa has a clear message for anyone involved in the same illegal activities: 'You're next.'

The @NYPDnews, in collaboration with the @NYCSHERIFF and the @NYCMayor Office, conducted a successful raid on a cannabis distribution warehouse in Astoria, Queens. Responding to a burglary call, officers uncovered and seized approximately $5 million worth of cannabis extract and concentrate.
This operation marks a significant blow to illegal cannabis operations, which pose a direct threat to the legal cannabis industry and are linked to increasing crime rates, including murders, stabbings, and robberies.
I spoke with a Sheriff's Lieutenant on the scene, who provided insights into the raid and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on such criminal activities and keep New York City safe.
