In English, Hegel’s writing looks like words strung together with awkward punctuation marks.
I guess I must acquire a German edition of his text along with a German lexicon and grammar to understand Hegel.
Hoping he is more comprehensible in German than English.
Struggled with the likeness being cause of true friendship at first, example of ‘white men’ was also unhelpful.
Now thinking that likeness and the lack of it can also be assumed/truly recognized.

Doing chores and listening to Jean-Luc Marion's lectures. His joy for theology/philosophy is hard to surpass. Best company I could ask for.

Many reasons to join a @CatherineProj reading group, but the greatest of all is that it's a massive flex to whip out your copy of Plato's Republic on the plane.
There should be more exams like this. Can you think about things? Can you write about them? That's the test.
Today I learned about the All Souls examination, which is reputed to be the hardest exam in the world.
To even be considered, you need to have a degree from, or be a current graduate student of Oxford.
Hundreds of people sit and only two people pass every year.
Attached is last year's general exam.
Before I saw it, I wondered, how hard could it be.
Well, it turns out…it's "Defend ghosting.", "Does a pope matter?", and "Is body language a language?" hard:
I read and discussed Hegel’s preface of “Philosophy of Right” with a bunch of wonderful friends today!
We had so much fun trying to figure out whatever little we could.

Beware of the large language model. It ultimately throws obstacles in the way of our continued growth in understanding. @zenahitz explains why. bit.ly/3T8m006
Will be spending the next 3 months reading, researching, and writing about Aquinas' discussion of 'fruitio'. Already delighted! What a blessing to spend one's time thus!
