Today AWS servers went down and so did the government One Login digital ID system Millions of people were suddenly locked out of vital services just because all authentication now runs through one central system hosted on a single commercial cloud. Could there be a clearer warning This is not a theoretical risk. This is what happens when all access to government services depends on a single provider and a single platform. One outage and the whole country grinds to a halt If AWS can crash and take out government logins nationwide. What happens during a cyberattack? What happens in a crisis? What happens when there is just a technical glitch? We are being told to put our trust our business our legal status and our most sensitive personal information into one digital basket Today proves just how fragile and risky that model is. Digital ID is not about convenience or security. It is about centralising risk and making everyone more vulnerable to outages attacks and bureaucratic mistakes. It only takes one outage to lock the country out. #NoToDigitalID

This is how you privatise a country The playbook is simple: keep the public fighting about borders and boats while corporations dismantle the state from within. Outsource governance to Silicon Valley surveillance firms. Hand infrastructure to Wall Street. Create zones where capital operates beyond democratic control. By the time people notice, itโ€™s already done. europeanpowell.substack.com/โ€ฆ

20 years ago Tony Blair wanted to rollout ID cards, the policy flatlined. Keir Starmer is resurrecting Blairโ€™s ID card all over again, but the difference is this new rollout is now taking place after Brexit which means citizens protections from predatory corporations has evaporated. Funny how Starmer doesnโ€™t want to talk about Brexit, but these ID cards are a direct consequence of post-Brexit deregulation which risks mass surveillance of everything you do.

Battersea Park Childrenโ€™s Zoo have commented on our campaign to have Battersea Park #fireworks moved away from the animals in the zoo and the nearby dogs & cats home or cancelled completely. The post makes horrendous reading and if it doesnโ€™t make you want to drop an email to [email protected] we donโ€™t know what will! @CllrSimonHogg do you care to comment? Your continued use of the park for firework displays disregarding animal welfare is completely unacceptable. @RSPCA_official @MayorofLondon @EmmaforWycombe @domdyer70 @wandbc

Seriously, it's time to rewatch The Labour Files. @RoryStewartUK has just let loose with a truly vile and panic-stricken rant against Jeremy Corbyn. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป youtube.com/watch?v=ZpV4DhRWโ€ฆ Reminder - Opposing war, genocide, austerity, imperialism, colonialism, privatisation, deregulation, and climate destruction does not make you hostile to Western democracy. It marks you as someone committed to equality, to the social contract, to empathy, to public services, and to the moral duty of speaking truth to power. @jeremycorbyn @zarahsultana @collectivnews @TheGreenParty @ZackPolanski youtube.com/watch?app=desktoโ€ฆ
Corruption, conspiracy, lies and abuse from those who smeared Jeremy Corbyn to install right-wing Keir Starmer as leader of his changed Labour Party. Watching The Labour Files once again is a timely reminder of what has gone fundamentally wrong with the Labour Party. m.youtube.com/watch?v=elp18Oโ€ฆ

My debut novel, Patience, was published on this day four years ago. Inspired by my own life, it took me more than a decade to write. (In my defence, I had two kids in this time!) It was the Booksellers' Association - book of the month when it came out. An honour.

People are complaining that they don't understand my petition, and that I should dumb it down, so here goes. Your country is being cut up into pieces and sold off to corporations. If you don't sign this petition, you will lose everything. petition.parliament.uk/petitโ€ฆ

Britainโ€™s sovereignty is quietly being sold off to foreign corporations through โ€œfreeportsโ€ and Special Economic Zones (SEZs). Dubaiโ€™s DP World and a BlackRock-led group now control most UK ports like London Gateway, Felixstowe, and Southampton, with huge tax breaks and state subsidies paid for by British taxpayers. These zones strip away democratic oversight and create loopholes for tax dodging and organised crime, as seen in Teessideโ€™s freeport scandal and the recent ยฃ96 million cocaine seizure at DP Worldโ€™s London Gateway. As Private Eyeโ€™s Richard Brooks (@RBrookes45) exposed, private companies extract massive profits under generous deals made even sweeter by freeport status, all funded by the public. Brexit helped enable this by ditching EU state aid rules that would have blocked such corporate giveaways. Even worse, foreign corporations can bypass UK courts and sue the government in secret tribunals if profits are threatened. This isnโ€™t investment, itโ€™s corporate colonialism. Who approved these sweetheart deals? Why are taxpayers footing the bill? Sign my petition to demand transparency, proper oversight and an end to this sell-off. Deadline: 30th December 2025. petition.parliament.uk/petitโ€ฆ

To my 43.5k followers, I need your help to sign and share my petition on Transparency and Review of the free zones and ports impacts. It was approved by the UK Govt and Parliament on 30th June 2025. Description To ensure full transparency by releasing data on governance, funding, and operations of free zones. Plus a public review to assess impacts, such as job displacement and value for taxpayers money. We are concerned about the question of value for taxpayers money AND high projected costs. WE call for a review to consider the impact of deregulation, the potential for land grabbing, split of profits between public and private sector, 10 year corporate tax breaks, potential for green washing by fossil fuel companies, plus digital AI Growth Zones We urge the Govt to release data on all free zones operations. The petition lasts for 6 months, deadline 30th December 2025! petition.parliament.uk/petitโ€ฆ #Petition #freezones #SEZs #Freeports #UKGoverment @CarolineLucas @carolecadwalla @OborneTweets @PeterKGeoghegan @kennardmatt @Lowkey0nline @carolvorders @MarinaPurkiss @jemmaforte @RichardJMurphy @premnsikka @ZackPolanski @natalieben @TheCanaryUK @carla_denyer @GreenJennyJones @jeremycorbyn @ClaireProvost @rbrooks45 @PrivateEyeNews @novaramedia @declassifiedUK @DoubleDownNews @GeorgeMonbiot @NoJusticeMTG @RestIsPolitics @PoliticsJOE_UK @CurtisDaly_ @TurnLeftMediaUK @MaxFRobespierre @NesrineMalik @guardian @Channel4News @krishgm @vicderbyshire @cathynewman @gilduran76 @NancyMacLean5 @_KarenHao
My petition to the UK Government for full transparency on the impacts of 86 deregulated free zones across England, Scotland, and Wales has finally been approved. I urge people across the UK to sign and share this petition as widely as possible. This is hugely important for the future of your communities, your property rights, your land, your towns, your cities, your councils, your citizenship rights, your collective sovereignty, for rejoining the EU, and the use of your taxes to fund corporations like US Blackrock, who pay zero taxes in free zones for 10 years. The UK's 86 deregulated free zones are licensed for a quarter of a century, and are embedded with secondary legislation, meaning zero Parliamentary and public scrutiny. This is in your hands now.
