And I feel like I'm going insane reading the briefs about .223 because THE LAW DOESN'T BAN .223!!!
He's talking about 30 Luger, by the way. This is really incredible stuff.

Don't confuse muzzle energy with kinetic energy, you don't get shot 4 tones with a 30 and not even notice, you do with a 223, as has been documented many many times. That's why the military is looking for a better round, now if you said 6.5 grendel or something, I'd agree

The history is a mess.
It says the Soviet AK-47 was COPIED from the AR-15. The AK predates the AR by roughly a decade.
It calls the AR-15 a "redesign" of the M1 Garand. The AR-15 descends from the AR-10.
The M1 Garand was adopted in 1936.
Wow! These "US Marine Corps" guys know nothing about guns! You can NEVER look down the muzzle!!! That's NOT SAFE!
France, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Russia (and USSR), and more all have either an explicit muzzle check or equivalent check that violates at least one of the "four rules."
The "four rules" are not designed to make you proficient, and you can't be safe without being proficient.
Blind deference to the "four rules" of gun safety can keep you from being unsafe when handling firearms. That's why they exist.
But the same "four rules" will also prevent you from becoming proficient with firearms, which is a prerequisite for being safe with firearms.
Another example: the "four rules" tell us that a rifle fired in a safe direction at a good backstop is good to go. Even if there's a bore obstruction, if you're using wrong ammo, the action isn't fully locked, etc.
They prevent unsafe things, but don't ensure total safety.
And so finally, when you see something like this, you only sound like an ignorant rube when you start yammering about "muh fore roolz."
The pictured behavior is demonstrably, empirically safer than action closed, barrels in the air.

Show them this official M14 maintenance manual photo and watch them lose their goddamn minds.

People that make over confident mistakes arent experienced gun owners. People who cant recognize that an open and unloaded action renders a firearm entirely safe from all direction arent either.

the 4 basic rules are over simplified and meant for children and adults who have never handled a firearm in their life. Needlessly applying them to arguably safe situations only makes you out to be the token those rules are for or a weenie. There is no inbetween.

The people crying about "muzzle discipline" or whatever will appendix carry without one ounce of irony.

Fun fact. Clay shooting shotguns are very VERY custom. So custom that everything about them is tailored to their owner
Here's one of the ways that a clay shooting shotgun is tailored to their new owner 👇
If you think anything in these pictures is unsafe, you're ignorant.
But if you post nonsense suggesting you know more than the world's best shooters, you're stupid.

Perhaps you should read up on the rules of gun safety, and frankly so should the shooters in that picture.
