This is relatable and I feel for him. He's a go, go, go, go kind of cat who wants to do all this going at his own pace. Milo's improved quite a bit since coming to us and seems characteristically eager to demonstrate this through repeatedly leaping off his den with a flourish. Since I wasn't entirely sure where Milo was going with this, I offered a pipe cleaner feather, which happily kept his interest for a few moments before he decided nuzzles were better. Then he decided that it was probably best to see the town, as it were, leaning his whole little cat self over my arm in his efforts to get just a tiny bit better view. Everything Chessboard does comes with an exclamation point lovingly and enthusiastically placed there himself. If he's napping, he's pushing off with his back paws to glide into the arms of whoever opened the door. If he's nuzzling, he's using his whole body to do it. The exclamation points are his bit of flair allowing him to stand out in a busy shelter and model his skills. In Chessboard's own way, he is really good but a cat like Chessboard has a tendency to start conversations in the middle and expect that everyone else is following along. Chessboard was found alone in an apartment and so we don't know much about what his world looked like before, but we do know shelter life has come with its expected ups and downs. ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ JESSIE NEEDS A HERO. ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ And right now, her hero might be someone who can simply open their home to her for a little while. โค๏ธ Jessie (#G26864) has spent far too much of her life waiting. Rescued from Georgia as a puppy, she was adopted, only to return to us just three months later. Since then, our Pet Behavior team has worked closely with Jessie to help her build confidence and learn how to navigate the world around her. But Jessie is struggling in the shelter environment, and we desperately need to learn more about who Jessie can be in a home. We are looking for a dedicated foster who can give Jessie a 2-week to 1-month stay in a calm, quiet environment. This time would allow our team to better understand her behaviors, routines and needs outside of the shelter, so together we can determine the best path forward to help Jessie thrive and succeed. We know this is a big ask. Jessie is not the easiest foster. โค๏ธ She currently takes medication three times a day, and she needs someone experienced, patient and willing to work closely with our team. When Jessie is comfortable, you see a completely different side of her. She is loving, affectionate, cuddly and full of kisses. She also does well with other dogs, with a meet-and-greet required. ๐Ÿพ Her ideal foster: โ€ข Experienced with dogs who need extra support โ€ข A quiet suburban or rural home โ€ข Older children (14+) โ€ข Able to administer medication 3x daily โ€ข Patient, observant and willing to communicate closely with our team Jessie doesn't need someone to promise forever right now. She needs someone willing to give her a chance. Two weeks. Maybe a month. A little time in a home could tell us so much about Jessie and give our team the information we need to help her move forward. If you think you could be Jessieโ€™s hero, please reach out: ๐Ÿ“ง [email protected] ๐Ÿ“ง [email protected] This is a big ask. But Jessie needs someone willing to take it on. And weโ€™re hoping that someone is out there. ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ Please, help us help Jessie. #GetYourRescueOn #FosteringSavesLives

Now's when that fall feeling really kicks in. Happy November! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿฑ As the weather gets cooler, there are ways we can help cats outdoors stay warm. Community cats are well-adapted to outdoor living, but we can still lend a hand. An outdoor shelter insulated with straw (not hay!) is a great place to start! This is what the beginning of the surveillance state looks like in America Americans in Connecticut received a bill for additional taxes on their car because cameras spotted it in a different city A private company called Municipal Tax Service (MTS) is hired by cities to drive around and use automatic license plate readers on cars parked in different cities It then makes connections if that car lives in that area and sends the owner a bill for new taxes on that vehicle for being in the city The owner of this vehicle says she doesnโ€™t live in that city, provided proof and says her car was only in a different city because her kid drives there for school MTS didnโ€™t care and said that the proof didnโ€™t matter and they had to pay it. They appealed to the city, the city said they had to deal with MTS But hereโ€™s the problem, MTS gets paid 38% commission on tax revenue they recover + $50 per vehicle billed to the owner. They made $9 million in commission in just one year from sending people additional tax bills So this company has no incentive to ever help you and just deny you, which they did Only after the mainstream media got involved would the city drop this one new tax bill which was false to begin with In America we now literally have private companies driving around scamming our license plates to tax us more money This is insanity and it needs to end

This is a must-read, from a man who defected from the Communist bloc to the USA 40 years ago. "What worries me the most is not Trump himself or those who do his bidding, but rather the willingness of so many ordinary citizens to look away." theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1โ€ฆ
