For months, top advisers to @GregAbbott_TX and @KenPaxtonTX have coordinated a secretive government campaign against a Plano mosque.
It has amounted to a multiagency siege, orchestrated at the highest levels of Texas government, targeting a North Texas Muslim community. 1/3

NEW: Rightwing Texans spent decades steadily tearing down the church-state wall, claiming it is a myth meant to obscure America's true Christian roots. Now, Trump is helping them export their playbook nationally - and codify their views into federal policy. (Gift link below).

“The separation of church and state is not in the Constitution,” Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick recently said as Trump nodded from behind the Resolute Desk. “From this day forward, that phrase should have no power over people of all faiths ever again.” (Gift link)

A must-read story about how Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton trumped up fraud charges against a Muslim community - despite repeated warnings that there were "legal holes" in the case. Latest bit of incredibly @NicoGutteridge reporting.

Ken Paxton "cited" the securities board chairman in bringing a fraud lawsuit against a North Texas Muslim community. Except the securities board chairman never said what Paxton claimed he had. Essential @NicoGutteridge reporting: texasmonthly.com/news-politi…

In slimy fashion Paxton filed a lawsuit against the developer of EPIC CITY, now known as Meadow, north of Plano. The lawsuit alleged securities violations after lawyers and investigators at the Securities Board determined that there were no such violations. The suit is driven by animosity towards Muslims and by the desire by Paxton to score political points with the MAGA base suffering with Islamophobia. Excellent work by the Texas Monthly on this story.
