AI-pilled tech bros on X are a living example of the false consensus effect.
Case study from my neighbor's backyard. He had four friends over to brew beer: high school teacher, lawyer, physical therapist, CPA. All mid-30s, all college educated. AI came up. They'd used ChatGPT to write emails. That was as far as it went. They thought Claude was made by Google. When I asked if they used AI to shop, they were confused by the question. "Like Google Shopping?"

People have contempt for the software industry because it's failing at its job.
There hasn't been any new software made in the last 3-4 years that I want to use.
Most existing software is getting worse
Why would people like or respect the software industry?

Joe hasn’t been right about anything…don’t be like Joe…a traitor and a piece of human shit.
The Iranians will likely respond to the sanctions by attacking our bases and/or ships in the region.
The Iranian hardliners prefer a military conflict because they believe striking us is their only true deterrent & a kinetic war keeps their people rallied around the regime.
We should deprive them of this option by pulling our troops from the region.
Pulling our troops out limits our risk & provides the sanctions the time to have their desired effect.
This will also allow President Trump to say he won the military fight, now it’s all economic/diplomatic and the war can slowly fade from the daily news cycle.
Once that happens a quiet arrangement can be made to get the oil flowing from the SOH ahead of the elections in November.
But the sanctions won’t work if we get sucked back into an escalation cycle— break the escalation trap by pulling our troops out.

People are going to pretend this is controversial, but if one administration can declare temporary protected status, another can end it. Simple as.

If the Constitution brings us to the point that foreign adversaries can ship pregnant women into our country by the thousands or millions to have US citizen children, then the whole thing just isn’t fit for purpose anymore.

Machinist buddy of mine, young guy with 5 years experience was telling me he hopes to get a promotion up to 55k next year.

We expect skilled labor to work for 1998 wages.
Shipyards desperately need welders, pipefitters, and other skilled workers. But this work is grueling and dangerous. cbsn.ws/4bIyP6O

Workers exist but choose higher-paying jobs. Shipyard welders earn ~$54k—barely above fast food wages—while those skills earn $65k+ elsewhere. High churn proves the issue is pay, not a lack of skilled labor. They simply aren't choosing grueling work for low pay.
