THORChain can't selectively refuse a swap because the money is stolen. by design. the FBI just asked its node operators, by name, to do exactly that. October 31: the FBI attributes the $6B+ @binance hack to North Korea's TraderTraitor operation. Together with the Secret Service and IRS-CI, it urges THORNode operators, named first on its list, to block transactions involving the stolen funds. There's a legitimate reason for @THORChain 's design. No discretionary blacklist, no gatekeeper deciding who gets to trade. I've credited that before. But the consequences don't disappear because the choice was deliberate. And we have the receipts. None of the FBI's 628 listed addresses directly matched the THORChain swap addresses I examined. One hop out is a different story: 8 wallets that received THORChain payouts also transferred 5,324 ETH to 54 FBI-listed addresses. Those transfers are confirmed, but not all of that ETH can be attributed to THORChain. Meanwhile, THORChain itself was barely trading. as of 10:08 PM ET, trading was halted on 11 of 13 chains, including BTC, ETH and TRON. Only AVAX and XRP were open. An unrelated Ethereum reorg caused a 10 ETH deposit to be refunded twice. THORChain's solvency protections triggered, followed by broader halts voted through by nodes. Caught in that halt: 41 TRX -> ETH swaps from 11 wallets on Elliptic's Binance-hack list. Nearly 200 ETH accrued and unpaid. 25 of those queued swaps, accounting for 169 ETH of accrued output, point to wallets that have already sent ETH directly to FBI-listed addresses. Before the halt, swaps initiated by those same 11 TRON wallets had already produced 7,474 ETH in THORChain payouts. None of this was an intentional intervention against the thieves. Ordinary users were halted too. THORChain co-founder @CBarraford argues that CEXes hold identifying information and should work with law enforcement when hackers cash out. I agree. But the FBI's own alert identifies DeFi and instant-swap services as part of the laundering route. The money doesn't become a law-enforcement problem only when it reaches a CEX. THORChain can coordinate a halt when its own solvency is at risk. It has no deployed mechanism to selectively reject identified stolen-funds swaps. The FBI asked its operators to block transactions. For now, those 41 swaps are paused because ETH and TRON trading are halted for everyone. What happens when those routes reopen is the next test.

It's very important for leaders to understand that once you're dealing with a "rebellion" there's nothing you can do that'll appease the rebels. It'll never be enough. Not for them, not for the press egging them on. They will not rest until your head is on a spike.

haha, so apparently OpenAI are about to start training on your Daybreak Blue sessions, with no way to opt out. Literally stealing people's private work, as they do it, is cartoonishly evil. It also will presumably kill Daybreak usage by security researchers. Or at least, it should. The thing OAI have had to swear they are not doing to math researchers, they are now explicitly about to start doing to security researchers. Yet another reminder of the importance of open models.

This is INSANE. Cisco’s president Jeetu Patel has given a 27-year-old engineer unlimited AI tokens to try to rewrite 98% of the company’s legacy code within 24 months, Fortune reports. Padmanabhan Krishnamurthy thinks he can do it with a two-person team. He has just four weeks to prove the approach.

When I started using Grok Bot a few weeks ago, I was testing it alongside ChatGPT and Claude, but unlike those two tools that could be used side by side for different use cases, Grok Bot immediately replaced both of them. I just don’t use them any more. Has anyone else found this? Are we Grok Bot groupies now?

It’s almost incomprehensible how wide the distance is between someone who’s working at the frontier with AI and basically everyone else right now. The crazy thing is these lines are not converging, but only growing farther apart. If the curve of AI progress had leveled off, it would certainly have given most people and companies time to catch up or implement their workflows in a standardized way. The technology would have neutralized competitive advantage because everyone would be using it the same way. But what’s happened is the opposite. The curve of AI progress is basically going vertical right now, which means if you had codified your processes 3-6 months ago you’re likely already behind again. Now imagine most companies that kicked into gear a year ago and thought that they were done. Even further behind now. I’ve never seen a technology in my life and career that improves at this rate, which consequently means you need to upgrade your expectations at a similar rate. Our brains weren’t wired for this, and our organizational change management processes certainly weren’t either. With any form of recursive self improvement, things just get wilder. It’s a time when you will need to be constantly reevaluating the things that didn’t work just a couple months ago to see if they now can be solved. AI native companies certainly have a strong advantage due to this right now, so now it comes down to can the bigger companies keep up. Wild times.

Bots have joined our GTM team. A simple pattern is working: a domain expert brain-dumps their workflow into a Bot, shares it with the team, and it keeps learning over time. It's worked better than any internal automation we've built before.
Our sales operations team built Shared Bots that help reps move deals faster. Account Intel Bot updates the CRM after calls. Quote Bot prepares proposals and order forms. Deal Bot reviews non-standard terms and routes exceptions for approval.

How about the robot is looking down while assembling a Swiss watch with one hand and then, without looking up, catches an oblique 100mph baseball with the other hand? I also like the idea of juggling chainsaws on fire while riding a unicycle.
