Violette Szabo was parachuted into occupied France in April 1944 to work with the ‘Salesman’ network.
When the circuit was compromised, she made a daring escape back to Britain.
She returned by parachute in the days before D-Day, only to be captured forty-eight hours later.
After brutal torture, she was executed.
Will you remember her?

There is a life to be lived after stroke.
Happy St Crispin’s Day to fellow stroke survivors, us few, us happy few.
But for many there is a silence of stroke. If you know someone who has had a stroke do keep in touch with them.
This week’s poem is If suggested by Ian in Bolton.

Many of my heroes, such as Kenneth Williams, led troubled lives. Their legacy to us was laughter. Our legacy to them on #WorldMentalHealthDay should be helping others in ways they weren't.

"Burnham urges officials to come up with more radical options for Thames Water."
Well done Andy Burnham @andyburnham
There are ultimately just two answers to Thames Water, put the company into Special Administration and restructure - refinance it or give in to the demands of the New York vulture capitalists exposing tax payers and bill payers to yet more decades of exploitation.
The latter of course is unacceptable.

"Anglian Water fined £1.6M for polluting River Brain in Essex."
Over the last 15 years Anglian Water has been found guilty of 79 different environmental offences and already paid almost £5 million in fines. Has any of it made any difference whatsoever? Of course not.
Perhaps later this morning the @CommonsEFRA would like to ask the polluters why.

"Water bills face £40 hike if sector is downgraded, industry chief warns."
Yet more nonsense from the Ministry of Truth that is the water industry lobbying arm. @MarkKleinmanSky
Over the next 5 years water companies will spend £104 billion. Just £14 billion of that money is coming from shareholders but oh wait, shareholders are then taking £13 billion back again by way of dividends leaving a total of £91 billion that's actually getting invested.
Guess who's funding £90 billion of that, yes, 99% of the so called total investment? Yep you, the bill payer, not the shareholders, not the bond market, you.
Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
Another thing for the @CommonsEFRA committee to ask the lobbyists this morning.

This is what we've come to.
A retired couple had to spend £1m of their own money taking both the @EnvAgency and @NaturalEngland to the High Court simply to force both of these charlatans to do their job, safeguard one of our nation's most legally heavily protected bits of countryside.
And the environment charities does what exactly?
