Politico and @DashaBurns deserve a lot of plaudits for this - fabulous TV.
“I don’t want to be just sitting there for two years vetoing everything.”
President Donald Trump picked up a call from @DashaBurns on POLITICO Elections Live and talked to us about the blue wave and how he’s willing to work with incoming congressional Democrats.

“Let’s do it. Let’s try to call the president.” @DashaBurns and @politico colleagues with some high risk, very real and very brilliant journalism here.
That wait while Trump’s phone rings…
If you’re ever in doubt as a reporter, do this. Think big and just try it.

One of the best discussions of modern media I’ve heard - well done @krishgm and @lewis_goodall . Wireless rather under mentioned but whatever ..

As a nine year old waking up to hurricane force winds in the middle of the night, it was pretty scary!

The Great Storm of 1987 wipes out power across London, forcing TV-am to broadcast from the continuity desk at Thames, and Nicholas Witchell from the BBC's 'broom cupboard'.
Conference interview with @Helen_Whately - how the dividing lines are being redrawn on welfare, tax and little love lost with @RobertJenrick . politico.eu/article/helen-wh…

Tory conference feels energised by a clearer dividing line with Burnham than Starmer. My interview with shadow welfare secretary @Helen_Whately on whether Labour’s economic plans are “mad”, defending a childcare subsidy for wealthier workers - and as an old friend, how much does she miss @RobertJenrick?

Sad to hear about the death of Bonnie Greer. I had the pleasure of talking to her (and persuading her to appear on @BBCr4today) - and always enjoyed our conversations. telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2…

Huge loss for everyone who appreciated Bonnie’s companionship and wisdom across culture and the transatlantic relationship. Many @BBCNewsnight very amusing evenings together down the years. She truly was one of a kind.

For 16 years, Viktor Orbán exerted an iron grip on Hungarian politics. Now it’s being dismantled.
Has Hungary finally turned a page on the Orbán era, or could he make one final return?

For the Weekender conversation podcast from at Brussels Playbook, I spoke exclusively to Viktor Orban's successor at Fidesz - Janos Boka.
- Could Hungary's ousted strongman make a comeback?
- Does Boka accept some EU's criticisms of his party's record?
- Where does he stand on Ukraine and Hungary's closeness to Putin?
- Full story from me and senior producer @PASnowdon.

I knew Rod Liddle off and on since we were kids on the Today Programme in the early 80s. He was brilliant, he was kind. He was so so funny. He will be massively missed.
Very sad to hear this news. I met Rod when he was editor of @BBCRadio4 Today Programme a week after 9/11 in September 2001 (doing a week of work experience). He was kind, fearless and brilliant.

Very sad to hear this morning of the death of Ed Stourton. A gentleman on and off the radio. Here, we had immense fun performing John Tavener’s THE WHALE with assorted fellow BBC radio news voices at the @bbcproms in 2008.

Feeling so sad at the news of the death of Ed Stourton.
He was a very important figure for all of us on the daily news programmes on @BBCRadio4. One of those people you're really glad to have around. All substance, minimum ego, deeply knowledgeable, totally reliable.
And he was one of the nicest of colleagues as well. He'll be missed.
Had the pleasure of making this episode of @BBCRadio4’s Analysis with Ed Stourton - learning much about script writing and clarity of thought. Such a decent man. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b06j1k…
Saddened to hear about Ed. He was a superb broadcaster, who I had the privilege to work with at @BBCr4today briefly and then on an edition of @BBCRadio4's Analysis. He was immensely knowledgeable and kind.
