Field work is a blast with an amazing lab crew! Huge thanks to @PPhillipsAg, @AG__McCoy, and Jamie Walker for the awesome help setting up this unique experiment with bioformulations. Excited to track sclerotia degradation across treatments! @MartinChilvers1
Sclerotina sclerotial degradation study in the ground thanks to @MorganGoodnight and @mizuno_monica. We are ready to collect data as part of a NCSRP project w/@BisonBeanDoc and @badgercropdoc

Stripe rust has now been confirmed in several counties across Michigan. Scout fields! If fields are still at flag leaf a fungicide may be warranted, if coming into flowering a fungicide for head scab will help protect the flag leaf wheat.agpestmonitor.org/stri…

✔️There is no relationship between nitrogen application rate and tar spot severity.
✔️Higher plant population densities resulted in lower tar spot severity.
✔️Increasing plant population density is not a viable disease management strategy.
✔️Genetic resistance is important for tar spot management

For the love of Yield and late standability, please demand to know Tar Spot scores when making seed decisions for 2024…even if you had a fungicide planned (the first video had 2 apps!). It wasn’t even wet and cool this summer.

Tar spot confirmed in additional MI counties, be sure to scout
We have found tar spot in the lower leaves of our research plots at ACRE (photo 1) and Pinney (photo 2). Upper canopy is still clean. There is still time to scout and make an informed decision if a fungicide is needed. @ACRE_Purdue

Added a few more counties for tar spot in Indiana today. Thanks for those that have sent samples into the @PurduePPDL. Keep scouting as we are also starting to see gray leaf spot. @MartinChilvers1 @badgercropdoc @ACRE_Purdue @alisonrISU @AlbertTenuta

Worst frogeye I've seen
Frogeye leaf spot of soybean disease cycle. Watch out for fungicide resistance with this disease. Fungicides are a great crop protection tool, but lose disease-busting ability if overused.
Ask Extension for fungicide info. @CropNetwork @dsmuelle @cropdoc08 @cropdisease #IPM
