A lack of spare parts for aircraft due to sanctions was a serious problem for Russia. Trump rushes to Putin’s rescue yet again, while Russia concedes nothing and continues to murder Ukrainian civilians.
The United States has lifted restrictions on the Boeing Corporation’s engagement with the Belarusian national airline, Belavia -Igor Cherginets, Director General of Belavia, as reported by the news agency BelTA.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has granted Boeing authorization to work with the Belarusian airline. "This will allow Belavia to directly obtain spare parts, components, and software for the aircraft currently in its fleet. Furthermore, it paves the way for negotiations regarding the direct acquisition of aircraft from Boeing. It is worth noting that a similar authorization had previously been issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which provided the technical framework for direct cooperation between Belavia and Boeing. A year ago, the U.S. government issued an authorization that removed all sanctions—specifically political sanctions—against Belavia," the airline’s Director General stated.

Back then, they argued:

The USA is turning into Russia.
October 29. A Halloween celebration on the South Lawn of the White House. Trump and his wife hand out candy to children in costumes. One pair of siblings, in particular, drew attention: the boy was wearing a Russian camouflage uniform and a peaked cap with a red star, while the girl wore a *sarafan* (traditional dress) and a *kokoshnik* (traditional headdress).
As it turned out, these were the children of Stephen Miller—the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and an advisor on domestic security.
This means that the U.S. stance on the war in Ukraine is not determined solely by Trump’s tender and deep-seated affection for Putin. Pretty much everyone in that administration is of the same mold. In high-level politics, there are no coincidences; the fact that a government official and advisor to Trump would dress his children in such costumes and bring them before the cameras to meet the presidential couple is a clear signal.

MEPs have signed a joint letter, calling on EU institutions, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and host governments to pursue lawful measures to prevent Russia’s return to international ice hockey.
Russia has secured a favourable ruling. It has done nothing to earn its rehabilitation. The Kremlin will use every restored privilege as evidence that the world is learning to live with its war. Europe has legal and political tools to resist that. We should use them. Where those tools fall short, we should create them.

Russia may take Ukraine’s place at the 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship
It is Ukraine’s elite-division spot, earned for the first time in 20 years.
On October 30, 2026, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ordered the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to reinstate Russian national teams to international tournaments in the 2026/27 season, including the 2027 World Championship.
Ukraine finished second in Division IA in May 2026 on sporting merit and, for the first time in 20 years, fairly earned a place in the elite division of the 2027 Worlds. It had already been officially placed in Group A.
Under IIHF internal rules adopted in 2022, teams returning from a ban, Russia and Belarus, must take spots in the top division, while the total number of participants (16 teams) is strictly limited by the regulations.
Given that Ukraine advanced to the elite from the last qualifying place, it is formally the main candidate for exclusion if the format is rigidly maintained.
The federation has not yet announced a final decision on the participant structure for the 2027 Worlds, but there is also an option under which Ukraine could keep its place.
The regulations for the 2027 tournament in Germany could be urgently rewritten to increase the number of teams to 17 or 18.
This would resolve the conflict but require a complete overhaul of the schedule, host logistics, and an increase in the number of matches.
Organizers will also have to address security issues and the separation of the Russian and Ukrainian teams into different groups if both participate in the tournament.

Trump suspended sweeping sanctions against Russia on October 16. Two weeks later, he declared: “Stupid people wanted me to put sanctions on Russia.”
This is Putin’s greatest achievement. He has persuaded an American president to do things that would once have been unthinkable for any occupant of the White House.
And that is precisely Putin’s tactic. He doesn’t merely want concessions. He wants Trump to make them publicly, to defend them enthusiastically, and to ridicule Americans.
Every such performance sends a message to the world: look what I can make the President of the United States do.
Putin is demonstrating dominance.
And with every performance, Putin humiliates not just Trump, but the entire United States.
