Great catching up with @ethrelkeld, Senior Fellow & Director of the South Asia Program at @StimsonCenter during her visit to Islamabad
Elizabeth knows #Pakistan at close quarters, first as a diplomat in #Islamabad and #Peshawar, now as one of #Washington most careful readers of the region
We talked about @PakGlobalAlumni (PGAN), what we have been doing and how the community has grown. We talked about geopolitics beyond Pakistan and about #food #culture and her fluent #Pashto
#Stimson has been a good friend to #PGAN and I am grateful to Elizabeth for making the time
“Im not optimistic” @UN Secretary General @antonioguterres on #AI Governance

Highlights from the Pakistan–Bangladesh NextGen Leaders Roundtable in Islamabad.
The Pakistan Global Alumni Network (PGAN) was pleased to host a distinguished delegation from Bangladesh for an engaging roundtable bringing together thought leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and professionals from both countries.
The delegation included Israfil Khosru, Director and Chairman of the Finance Committee at the Bangladesh Cricket Board; Zafar Sobhan, Editor of Counterpoint and Founding Editor of Dhaka Tribune; Md. Rubaiyath Sarwar, Managing Director of Innovision Consulting; Shameem Ahsan, Executive Chairman of eGeneration PLC; Professor Shahab Enam Khan, international relations and security expert; and A.K.M. Fahim Mashroor, Co-Founder and CEO of Bdjobs.com.
Discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan–Bangladesh relations, fostering regional cooperation, and exploring opportunities for greater collaboration in education, technology, entrepreneurship, and people-to-people engagement.
The delegation's visit was organized by the Atlantic Council, with the dedicated efforts from Imran Shauket, Senior Advisor and Jon F. Danilowicz, Senior Fellow. We extend our sincere appreciation to both for their efforts in bringing together leaders from the two countries and facilitating this meaningful exchange.
At PGAN, we remain committed to creating platforms for constructive dialogue, building international connections, and strengthening cooperation across borders.

A gold medallist #Laibaejaz from the International Islamic University is dead.
An "education consultant" reportedly took her family's savings for a US admission that never existed and the papers were forged.
#Pakistan has no #law, #licence or #regulator for #educationconsultants. Anyone can open a shop and sell a dream.
Our statement is below.
PGAN will build a direct line between Pakistani students and admission offices, put a licensing framework before the Government, and publish guides to applying to the world's top universities.

We spoke about Pakistan's #youth and about #Pakistan's place in the world
A country where 64% of the population is under 30, mediated #US and #Iran peace, which has kept #peacekeepers in the field for 6 decades, hosted millions of #Afghans for more than 4 and is paying for a #climate crisis it did almost nothing to cause, has a stronger claim on the world's attention
@PakGlobalAlumni members wanted to understand that gap better and he gave the question the seriousness it deserves.
Grateful to Hon @antonioguterres for his time and candour, to @UNinPak and to the PGAN members who came at a day's notice.
