🚀 We’ve launched the first round of our Strategic Infrastructure Partnerships (SIPs), a new form of multi-year funding to tackle pressing health and care challenges.
On our #NIHR20 year, we’re building on 20 years of our infrastructure. These SIPs will bring together expertise, capabilities and resources across NIHR infrastructure and the wider health and care system to tackle challenges that no single organisation, discipline or scheme can solve alone.
This first round will support the shift from hospital to community-based care, with up to £45m available.
As our CEO, Professor Lucy Chappell said: “As the NIHR celebrates 20 years, it is looking for bold ideas and ambitious teams to lead these new, transformational partnerships. Our research infrastructure is full of passionate experts, with boundless experience. We want them to unite, combining their strengths with industry, local government, charities and many other partners, to accelerate exciting innovations and research to deliver real, lasting impact for patients across the country, and to drive economic growth.”

🔬 We recruited 73 adults with confirmed Long COVID across two UK sites.
Key feasibility findings:
✅ 97% completed the full 5-day remdesivir course
✅ 96% completed follow-up assessments
✅ High engagement with outcome measures and symptom tracking

The @ERASE_LC evaluated whether a 5-day course of intravenous remdesivir is feasible, safe, and acceptable for people living with Long COVID.
This is the first study to specifically examine remdesivir as a treatment for LC.
