This is not true!
Pre-BEE (1999–2001): Black people employed in top management were in the region of around 6% (with 9% in senior management) while those employed in professionally qualified positions were in the region of around 33%.
Post the implementation of BEE legislation black people in top management range from 17% to 21%, while senior management is between 26% and 32%. Black people employed in professionally qualified positions sit at between 48% and 50% post BEE.
The benefits derived by ordinary black South Africans from BEE are undeniable! We have a black middle class as a result of BEE and nobody can tell me otherwise!

My son thinks he's waiting until Christmas for Ocarina of Time, but it's hiding under the dirty clothes he told me he'd pick up two days ago... 🤷♀️
His first puzzle awaits. 😅

Who decided that a man from a party that won less than 1% of the vote is the most qualified to be mayor? Those people took Joburg residents for granted and a reaping the rewards for it today.

The Cape Independence Party (CapeXit) received 0.2% of the votes in the Western Cape (with only a few Cape Town wards yet to report). I think we can safely say the time for secession has passed.

Helen Zille is not entitled to mayorship in Joburg. Her party had to win 50 plus 1 for her to be guaranteed. They didn't and there's nothing wrong if the other parties exclude her from the coalition.

In other news, I see that CAPEXIT party managed to get around 3600 voters to mark their ballots. That must be around 5 voters per streetpole poster.

I have some thoughts.
I cannot stand this narrative. It grinds my tits. Herman Mashaba, the angry black refusing to submit.
All he has said is that he does not trust the DA given how many times the party has stabbed him and ActionSA in the back. That is a perfectly rational reaction on both a personal and political level. From his perspective, as I understand it, he sees it as foolhardy, and irresponsible, to trust the DA when it has proven untrustworthy to him and his party. Why would he enter a coalition with a partner he does not trust to keep it stable, when instability is part of why Joburg in particular collapsed? The unfairness. The racial troping. The gaslighting. I f’ing hate it.
Personally? I think the DA has matured as a coalition partner. The GNU experience as a junior partner taught some humility. Will it still treat its coalition partners horribly? I don’t know. I’d err on cautious hope. Will it still backstab? I don’t know. I’d err on cautious hope. Would I trust it? Well, trust is a very personal thing isn’t it? It is a tally of events and experiences. Different parties have had different experiences with it. Different people have had different experiences with it. Tough to call. We are all human. So. I don’t know.
And I think you forget politicians are humans and bleed and feel the same way you do. It would be irrational not to expect human emotion.
You also put too much hope in selflessness in politics, a vocation that is, by nature, driven by self-interest. Adjust your expectations and spare yourself disappintment. This. Is. Politics.
Dr Ivor Blumenthal warns that Herman Mashaba’s hostility towards the DA threatens ActionSA’s future and the prospects of stable coalition government in Gauteng’s metros.

Number of votes for South Africa’s big two parties in 2026 vs 2016:
ANC got 8.9 million votes in 2026, down from 16.1 million in 2016
DA got 7.1 million in 2026, down from 8.0 million in 2016
Both have gone backwards
That's not how our democracy works. Please don't try subvert it with vibes.
Every vote counts. Not just those that got the majority.
Politics is not a football game. Its not only win or lose.

3. Denying Helen the position of mayor is legally permissible but would violate the substantive intent of our democracy. How can the biggest party be excluded? We should therefore try and avoid it if at all possible? So what are Helen’s options for coalition partners?

Did you share the same sentiment about the MKP, when they were the biggest party in KZN in the last elections?

Bro, you’ve been following Milan since 2004 yet somehow forgot that :
✅️ Inter got the Second Star first.
✅️ Inter reached the UCL Final first in this modern era.
✅️ Inter's management rebuilt a sound financial structure and a championship squad from free agents without burning cash.
"No identity & vision?
You forgot that this club is far more stable on the pitch than your club, which gets protested by its own fans almost every single season and always finishes right below Inter in the table."
Btw? If renegotiating a €28M sponsorship deal is 'copying Milan,' then literally every club in Europe trying to boost its commercial revenue is copying Milan. Get out more, man ✌️

I've been following South Africa's elections these past days from Lusaka. I must admit, this is the best State TV in Africa.
They air opposition parties freely, give them coverage and let them even critic however they wish.

The ANC fell to its worst performance ever, losing 15 percentage points from 2021 -- yet most of those votes went to other parties, not the DA. Yes, the DA did well in Cape Town, Joburg and some other places, but overall it continues to show less growth than it should be getting.
