The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government. hrvd.me/ResearchFunding25t

Finally, some strength.
Donald Trump isn't a "king" and we won't let him use New Yorkers as roadkill on his revenge tour. We’ll see him in court.

About a month after Donald Trump took office as the 47th US president, almost all grant-review meetings remain suspended at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), preventing the world’s largest public funder of biomedical research from spending much of its US$47 billion annual budget. go.nature.com/4k8Njjx

This is a list of blockbuster drugs in 2024. Guess how many can trace their origins to NIH funded research? All of them.

Another big blow to the U.S. competitiveness in STEM. In comparison, the Chinese government lists biomed/biotech as one of few strategic areas and has steadily increased R&D funding year by year at a rate of ~10% per year even during economic slowdown.
This approach to suddenly cutting @NIH grant indirect costs will cause chaos and harm biomedical research and researchers in hospitals, schools and institutes nationwide. A sane government would never do this.

Rejuvenating the inner nuclear membrane? We show that nuclear autophagy proceeds through a lumenal vesicle intermediate and requires the dynamin-like 1 fission machinery. Congrats to @PhilipMannino1 and colleagues @LuskingL @TJ_MeliaLab nature.com/articles/s41556-0…

introducing the folding phase-check out our new opinion article in which we propose a protein folding function of the nuclear pore complex: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
Replying to @Schliekerlab
1/2 a few main points of our hypothesis: folding intermediates or (yet) unassembled subunits of transport cargo exposing hydrohobic side chains cannot crash out or aggregate in the NPC as intrisically disordered nucleoporins will compete with these off-pathways

Thanks to the engineering talent of Hudson Lusk, the @LuskingL has designed a new, more stable solution to securing slides on an @Koba_tokaihit stage insert. It works with traditional slides and chamber slides. DM me for 3D-printing design! #Microscopy
