GOOD NEWS: National Weather Service morning balloon launches have officially returned to normal levels while offices across the US have filled various vacancies. It seems like after an incredibly stressful and tumultuous 20 months in our industry, things are moving back to normal. It’s important to remember though that the fight must continue. The United States of America has long been the global leader in weather infrastructure. We must do everything to ensure NOAA, and by extension the NWS, is fully and properly funded to maintain this status and continue to innovate. Accurate and timely forecasts save lives and keep money in your pockets.

How do you handle affordability if you don't go after corruption that costs billions? How do you handle affordability if you don't change a system that always favors the wealthy? It's not about getting even, it's about creating a fair society. That requires punishing crooks
Hakeem Jeffries on Morning Joe: The American people don't want us to get even. They want us to get things done on their behalf because life is way too expensive. We ran on affordability, we won on affordability, and now it's our job to govern on affordability.

Is there one candidate left who cares about the ongoing mass casualty event crippling entire generations and rendering a real-life version of Idiocracy? Seven years. Why is indoor air quality still shit? Why are schools still unsafe? Why is healthcare more dangerous to health?

This contentious interchange between the NY Times and @GinaHinojosaTX was truly amazing. Hinojosa offered one of the best explanations of populism I've ever seen. Her comments were a total rejection of Corporate Dems' neoliberal formula. Her Texas victory is a game changer.

I’d like to mention Mrs Thatcher warning about man-made climate change being a threat as big as nuclear war, not because I’m a fan of Mrs Thatcher, I can’t stand her, but I think it’s important that people on the right understand that climate change is not a left-wing conspiracy even though the fossil fuel propaganda says exactly that

Doctors: these are the lengths that patients are going to in order to protect themselves from preventable hospital-acquired infections. If a patient asks you to wear an N95/FFP2 respirator, please respect their request.
I have to do more hospital stuff soon. Much anxiety. A lot of anxiety comes from running a gauntlet of unmasked healthcare workers. I am sad, because they are killing themselves. And I am angry, because they might kill me. Today I ordered 250 double sided business cards:

Dr. Jill Stein is facing fascist retaliation by the Trump regime for protesting against Israeli genocide. She faces 18 months in prison after being violently arrested by the state for opposing Israel Where are the “left” voices standing with her? Where is Bernie Sanders? Zohran Mamdani? AOC and the DSA? Are they truly going to stay quiet and refuse solidarity with victims of fascism simply because they are not a Democrat!? This is terrifying signs of things to come

‼️ Unprecedented Collapse! Watch as The Stratospheric Polar Vortex splits in 2 pieces - an unprecedented early-season collapse. Its a full month ahead of any other known collapse! The latest forecast shows stratospheric winds in the Polar regions weakening to record-low levels in early November, and remaining that way for weeks! Normally, the polar vortex strengthens during autumn. Instead, models suggest it could weaken dramatically, with winds potentially reversing direction. If that happens, it could qualify as the earliest major sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) on record, potentially beating the previous November 28 benchmark. Why does it matter? Well, a disrupted polar vortex can increase the chances of Arctic air spilling southward into the United States, Europe and Asia in subsequent weeks. However, that outcome is far from guaranteed because El Niño is overwhelming the pattern. But ironically yes it’s very possibly related to this years Super El Niño, as Tropical Pacific convection can alter planetary-wave propagation into the stratosphere, potentially contributing to vortex disruption. #elnino 1/
