I’m on bother dog sit, in York. I don’t think the owner really thought this through, it’s bonfire night & the poor dog is terrified of loud bangs. 🫤

Yesterday’s Budget: families on their knees, energy bills soaring, living standards described as “grim,” and other departments cut to scrape together defence funding.
Today: King Charles sharing photos of himself lounging on a government VIP jet that costs £2,000 an hour (tartan cushions and all) en route to Barbados.
£18k for one flight while ordinary people freeze and scrape.

A French friend I stayed with in the summer just sent me this pic, as she’s back at her place in France for haif-term. She & I won the ‘quiz du mois’ in August; my geographical knowledge swung it, that knowledge was mainly acquired through teaching about Francophonie!
I used to love lying in my bed as a child, safe in the knowledge that my parents were just downstairs. Although, just as I was drifting off, my sister would often shout at me: ‘Stop breathing!’

Today has been too much. Echo this morning, solicitor re divorce this afternoon, and it’s the fourth anniversary today of finding out my estranged sister had drowned.
I bumped into a former colleague in Sainsbury’s this morning. I hadn’t seen her for approx. 25 years! She didn’t look much different!! We had a nice catch-up.
