It's not rocket science. Abrahamic religions revolve around popes, prophets, or clergy. Hindus' faith is tied directly to our Gods and Puranas. A Poojari is a custodian of rituals, not a mediator or a divine voice like a pope.
Namboothiris are not more important than our Gods.
Not sure how Malayali Hindus would view Kashi and Mathura with a spiritual connection, when it was considered taboo for Malayali Hindus to cross the land borders of Malayala desha, as established by Namboothiri Brahmins. Instead, a lot of these sacred places were simply recreated within Kerala like Dakshina Kashi - Kottiyoor.
