The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has today handed over the site for proposed 15,000 sq. metres @MakCoBAMS Infrastructure Expansion Project to the Contractor, @ROKO_UG represented by CEO Mr. Mark Koehler in the presence of Project Consultant Symbion Uganda Limited represented by MD Mr. @MuliPius. The project is funded by @GovUganda to the tune of UGX 96.6 billion.
@ProfNawangwe thanked @MakCoBAMS Management led by Prof. @EdBbaale for its vision, noting that infrastructure expansion project aligns with Makerere’s transformative Strategic Plan and research-led agenda by expanding space for teaching, graduate training, research and other academic activities.
Today I led my “home team” to participate in the 2026 Rotary Cancer Run at Kololo ceremonial ground, Kampala. It was a very well attended event, every one doing the run or walk at their own pace

Gulu University Secretary David Obol Otori is addressing the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Sports at Speke Resort Munyonyo, on the topic "No Tenfold Economy Without Tenfold University Capacity "
Mr. Otori stresses that Uganda cannot achieve its tenfold economic expansion to a $500 billion economy by 2040 without parallel scaling of university capacity, research funding, and institutional relevance.

This morning, at the First Brazil-Africa Vice Chancellors Forum in Brasilia, I have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Makerere University and the Centro Universitario Fas Faculdades Associadas De Ensino (UNIFAE). We congratulate the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) @ruforumsec on signing of an addendum to the 2004 existing agreement with the Government of Uganda that confirms its status an international organization with diplomatic status in Uganda.
The addendum was signed by Hon. @MulimbaJohn1 on behalf of @GovUganda and @ProfNawangwe on behalf of the RUFORUM Board.
As hosts of the Secretariat, Makerere is confident that this addendum will bolster RUFORUM's reputation as a strategic hub for continental collaboration for agricultural innovation in higher education.

Makerere University and the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which opens opportunities for collaboration between the two historic and leading research institutions in the areas of staff and student exchange, joint research and training, joint supervision of graduate students, and others. I signed on behalf of Makerere University and Rev. Robert A. Dowd, the 18th President signed on behalf of the University of Notre Dame. The ceremony, which was held at the University of Notre Dame campus at South Bend, Indiana was witnessed by Dr. Lorna Magara, the Chairperson of the Council of Makerere University, who led the Mak delegation. Dr. Magara appreciated the institutionalisation of the collaboration between the two universities and the very warm hospitality accorded to the Mak delegation.
