Wonderful news: Murera has given birth to a baby girl this morning! Her daughter entered the world bathed in the light of a near-full moon, perfect in every way. We’ve named her Mwezi, which means moon in Swahili. Murera chose to give birth in her stockade, the place that has been her nighttime sanctuary all these years. Her delivery couldn’t have been more seamless – in fact, by the time the Keepers heard the rumbles and rushed to her side, it was all over! Mother and baby are doing very well, while Mwana is already proving to be an excellent and attentive big sister. More to come, but we're filled with joy and wanted to share Mwezi’s first moments with you. (Word is already out amongst the elephants – this morning, every wild-living Umani orphan showed up to meet the newest member of their family!) I'm far enough into transition to know that my fat has done all the redistribution it can, which means I can comfortably say my ass was always meant to be thick and shapely and it wasn't just stolen estrogen valour.

I talk about transness so much online because I basically don't talk about it at all irl. Especially not with c!s people. I've probably said the word transgender out loud like, 30 times in my life total, and that's pushing it.
