Good digging, QI. The earliest match is a 1972 poem, "Courage," by Ken Harris in the Springfield Daily News (Ohio). Roosevelt's name showed up in 1997. Ordinary people write lines worth keeping. They deserve the credit.

I hadn't heard this one before. I wonder if Yes, Prime Minister took some inspiration from it for the newspapers bit. youtube.com/watch?v=DGscoaUW…

Oxford people think they own the world. Cambridge people do not care who owns the world Was this saying coined by English editor James Payn, the Bishop of London Mandell Creighton, romance novelist Helen Ricker Beebe, or someone else? quoteinvestigator.com/2026/1…

White crows do exist (I understand due to Albinism, etc.), like there are some great listeners! Very rare, though!

The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread ... nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." A famous writer of science fiction and fact crafted this sentence. Who?

Congratulations to the correct respondents. The answer to the question is Isaac Asimov in Newsweek magazine on January 21, 1980 quoteinvestigator.com/2026/1…

Bradbury bemoaned the destruction of libraries and knowledge in "Fahrenheit 451". So that is a good guess, but the answer is someone else. The picture makes me think of M. C. Escher "Ascending and Descending" and Jorge Luis Borges' "The Library of Babel".

Picture makes me think Borges but I'll guess Bradbury.
