"The Nuggets have liked what they've seen from Holmes so far" except not enough to actually play him in any games apparently
From what I understand, the Nuggets have liked what they’ve seen from Holmes so far given the circumstances. This is much more about finances, with his $5.5 million option difficult to squeeze into a tight cap situation.

Also, this is the time to just use him as salary matching in a trade. There's no point in keeping him at this point unfortunately.

Not expecting the Nuggets to pick this up considering DaRon is currently glued to the end of the bench.
Today is the deadline for the Nuggets to make a decision on DaRon Holmes II’s $5.5M team option for the 2027-28 season. Holmes’ 27 games played and 215 minutes played in the NBA are both second fewest among 2024 first round picks (Nikola Topic last in both categories).

Takeaways from Nuggets game 5: -Maybe the best game of CB's career? Huge development if the shooting and defensive playmaking is real -Jamal was also great, been fantastic since game 1 -Defensive rebounding continues to be a problem -Please get Tyus off my team

One more thing: the Nuggets can't have Jokić, Murray, and CB playing minutes this heavy this early in the season. Part of it for Murray and CB is there are just no other capable guards on the roster (which needs to be addressed), but Bagley can handle more than 11 minutes.

Getting a serviceable backup PG for Zeke and two 2nds is not going to happen. The Nuggets would be lucky to trade Zeke and two 2nds for nothing.
I don't think the Nuggets make it to game 15 with Tyus Jones as their backup PG. If it's not KPT they will trade Zeke Nnaji and those two 2nds for another PG.

Christian Braun's six made threes in the first half is already his career high for a full game

Okay, I'll be the one brave enough to say it: if Christian Braun continues at this pace and shoots 100% from three on 10 attempts a game he'll be worth his contract

Tyus Jones minutes are gonna give me a hernia

Absolutely do not care about the NBA Cup at all, but this counts as a regular game too so the Nuggets should just win anyway

Oh wow check out #9 there
Made a pretty substantial update to my metric for quantifying “Basketball IQ.” Same idea as in 2024: measuring on-court decision-making, not grading anyone’s intelligence. The full table is live. Top 10 in the image. #NBA

Absolutely will not support this guy on my team
Multiple people around the league have told @TheConsensusNBA in recent days that the Denver Nuggets want Kevin Porter Jr. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if Denver signs Porter now, despite being above the second apron, with the intention of getting below the threshold later.

Okay but it's actually kinda funny to watch DeMar when he does attempt a three. Looks like it takes him every ounce of strength he has to get the ball to the rim lol
Demar breaks my mind he’s going to turn down a wide open 24 footer to walk into a contested 20 footer, realize he can’t get it off and toss a pass back to Jamal who thankfully bails the possession out.

Liked this signing from the jump. Think he gives them things they didn't get from JV last season
Loved Marvin Bagley III's minutes tonight. 8 points and 6 rebounds in 15 minutes. Been so active on the glass.

It's too early to use this kind of lineup data but also this is exactly what I expected it to look like with DeRozan and Tyus on the floor together so maybe in this case it's okay
It’s only 39 total minutes across four games but they’ve been every bit as disastrous together as they’ve looked

Takeaways from Nuggets game 4: -It's the Pels so this comes with a grain of salt -Too many turnovers but overall good game from Jokić on both ends. Good to see him not settling for threes. -Really like the combo of AG/Brazile at the 3/4 -Jokić/Bagley also good -Jamal played great

I should also say, Jamal is averaging 38.5 minutes per game so far, an unsustainable number and a reflection of the team not having a competent backup for him. Addressing that should be their #1 priority, ideally sooner than later.

Jokić is not going to block shots at the rim when the primary defender is already beat which is where all the stuff about him being a cone and a poor defender comes from, but he does a lot of other things well, as seen on this play.
Look at Nikola Jokić guard in space down the stretch

The whole league is going to be dead by the end of the year at this rate
Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has sustained a left hamstring strain and will miss time, sources tell ESPN. Pacers doctors and Haliburton are now gathering a clear timeline.

If the Nuggets were a serious team they'd win this game by double digits
