China Film Week at QAU Highlights 75 Years of Pakistan-China Friendship Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, hosted China Film Week to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, celebrating the enduring friendship and promoting cultural exchange between the two countries. The event featured screenings of the Chinese films "The Battle at Lake Changjin" and "The Long March Home" , offering audiences insights into China’s history, cultural heritage, and struggles for peace and justice. Mr. Jamal Shah, former Federal Minister for Culture and renowned artist, actor, and film director, congratulated the organisers and appreciated the initiative. Highlighting cinema as a powerful art form that connects people across cultures and societies, he said that the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, coupled with their shared cultural values, offered significant opportunities for collaboration. Mr. Chen Peng, Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy, Islamabad and Director of the China Cultural Center in Pakistan, expressed his pleasure at visiting QAU and invited faculty members and students to participate in China Film Week. He expressed hope that the screenings would deepen audiences’ understanding of China and its people while promoting people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges. Earlier, Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University, welcomed the guests and highlighted the role of film, drama, and literature in fostering cultural understanding and promoting shared human values. He observed that cultural activities encourage mutual respect and appreciation of diversity. Referring to the university’s inclusive academic environment, he noted that QAU brings together students from different regions of Pakistan, reflecting the country’s rich cultural diversity and shared social values. QAU Hosts YPDC Closing Ceremony 2026 and “Bano Shaheen Programme Orientation” Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, hosted the closing ceremony of the Young Peace and Development Corps (YPDC) 2026 and the orientation of the “Bano Shaheen Programme”, organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, attended as the chief guest and administered the oath of office to the newly appointed cabinet of the Bano Shaheen Programme. The event aimed to promote youth leadership, social responsibility, and active participation in national development. Addressing the participants, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that young people are key stakeholders in Pakistan’s future. He said the “Bano Shaheen Program” seeks to develop youth leadership, strengthen young people’s potential, and engage them in addressing national challenges through practical solutions. He also highlighted the importance of establishing Bano Shaheen chapters to encourage meaningful youth participation in community service, social transformation, and national development. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, said that the University’s diverse student body, representing different regions of Pakistan, could make a significant contribution to the success of the “Bano Shaheen Programme”.
