If you remember nothing else today, remember Ciara's words: "In a world where there’s so much hardship and sadness and hatred being spread... I choose to see the good people and there are so many of them..” (Ciara Mageean)

Not a peep out of the far-left about this cyberattack. A attack that will absolutely impact low income workers - impacts costs for business, risk jobs, potentially increases food prices for already struggling families. I wonder why.

Under the current system of democracy, where there are no property requirements and someone who has not worked for years has the same vote as a higher rate tax payer, stagnation is almost guaranteed. There are simply too many vested interests in maintaining and expanding the welfare system, growing the transfer payments, opening the border and driving up energy costs to implement net zero (a suicidal agenda) for change to happen in a democracy. And this socialism, this greed, this confiscation of wealth from those who work, is dressed up as compassion by those who do not. lauraperrins.substack.com/p/…

Ireland has the most expensive electricity in Europe. Fuel fuels the cost of living. The govt could do something about the cost of living but they choose not to. Side note: the govt owns the ESB

They say the price of love is grief, and the hurt that’s being felt so deeply, so widely, across Ireland and the athletics world is a reflection of what so many felt for Ciara Mageean. A reflection on the athlete and person she was: independent.ie/irish-news/ca…

Have a read ....then a stiff drink
Power is Power The chart below shows electricity prices in Europe just now, priced per MWh. Just horrific and economically ruinous for any modern economy. The world spends about $4.2 trillion on electricity and this is split between: • Generation (2/3 • Transmission & Distribution (1/3) The world spends around $1.5 trillion on capex and $2.7 trillion on opex. The $1.5 trillion capex gets you 1-2% capacity growth each year. So a rough rule of thumb is that every 1% of GDP you spend on power infrastructure gets you 1-2% more electricity. If you wanted to grow your power supply by eg 8%, you might expect that to cost 6% of GDP. Nobody has the supply chain to do that, if you want to grow this particular supply chain it will cost you more GDP points on second order things. Now… Demand for power around the world is booming, because of 3 big technology trends. 1. Air Conditioning (yes still) +20% consumption 2. Electric Vehicles +80% consumption 3. AI Data Centers +XYZ% consumption Different regions have different progress on these three trends. US has a lot of AC, little EV and a lot of DC, Europe has little AC, lots of EV little DC. China has a lot of AC and EV. Now generation splits into fixed costs for the generator plant (site and technology specific) and variable costs for fuel. Dispatchable Power Cost, by Fuel Type 1. $6 / MWh - Uranium 2. $19 / MWh - Nat Gas 🇺🇸 3. $22 / MWh - Coal 🇺🇸 4. $40 / MWh - Coal 🇨🇳 5. $90 / MWh - LNG 6. $130 / MWh - Biomass 7. $160 / MWh - Nat Gas 🇪🇺 🇯🇵 8. $200 / MWh - Oil Fracking has given the US a structural energy cost advantage. If you talk to people in China about what is the most impressive thing the US has done they say “fracking”. The challenge with US Nat Gas is that it’s now fully developed and expansion is sort of tapped out. What the 21st Century demands is a lot of power, you either have it or you don’t. When you look at planetary scale energy and compute trends you see myriad gigantic arbitrage opportunities. Interesting times!

Ireland sent fourteen MEPs to the European Parliament, and on 8 October only seven of them could vote for a resolution asking Europe to face the Muslim Brotherhood network, its front groups, its youth arms and the EU money that reaches them. Five voted against, both Sinn Féin MEPs, Labour's Aodhán Ó Ríordáin and the independents Luke Flanagan and Michael McNamara, and two did not vote at all. Back home, the Brotherhood is under no suppression order, and as Deputy Carol Nolan reads the Justice Minister's own answer, it stays free to recruit and raise money unless someone proves it is for terrorism. Half a delegation, no ban, and a network that loves exactly that kind of gap. Dublin, which half are you? BTW, the Muslim Brotherhood is banned in the UAE.

1. We (taxpayers) bought 500 bikes 2. We are now paying for their storage to get them off the roads (we don’t know why) 3. But we still intend to buy 1,375 more! At a certain point you have to turn off your brain because this is so asinine that it crushes my soul and upsets me deeply. This is the inevitable result of our gov depts and state bodies never knowing what the other is doing. We cannot keep doing this; our state cannot handle the complexity of modern policy-making. We need to reform this system IMMEDIATELY. Not publish a paper. Full, total, complete reform.

Victor Davis Hanson with the uncomfortable truth 🔥 “They ethnically cleansed almost a million Jews from Arab countries between 1948–1973. No one talks about that. But only the Palestinians still claim ‘refugee’ status 78 years later. When Poland was recreated, 12 million Germans walked back to Germany. Two million died. You don’t see Germans today waving keys to apartments in Danzig screaming ‘I’m a refugee.’ Cypriots lost 40% of their land to Turkey. Jews from Damascus, Cairo, Baghdad, the Gulf — kicked out, property stolen. None of them still play the eternal refugee card. Israel left Gaza in 2005 with hundreds of millions in greenhouses and infrastructure. What did they do? Looted it. Took $40–50 billion in aid… and built rockets and 500 miles of tunnels instead of a real state. We’re supposed to feel sorry for people who chose this path?” History is not a buffet. You don’t get to pick only the victimhood that serves you. 🇮🇱

Your boys did well (Frans Malherbe said an interesting thing the other day: Everyone can see when a prop has a bad scrum but no one knows when a lock takes a break or has a rest in a scrum and the prop gets pantsed as a result) Think the commentators could have made more of the fact that they had the privilege of watching last year’s WR Team of the Year LH and TH scrumming together Very few better scrums in the world and none outside of SA

NewZealand has made the right decision. Ireland is very unlikely to follow suit, not with this government or any future governments as long as the political landscape remains the same. It will continue pumping our tax money 💰 to terrorist filled UNRWA as long as it exists.

The year is 1746. You live in the Highlands, weeks after Culloden. The redcoats burn your house and drive the cattle of the glen down to Fort Augustus, 2,000 at a time, where dealers up from Yorkshire buy them by the lump. You walk to the camp to beg for one cow back for the children and are turned away at the gate. The old die of hunger on the bare hillside while the Duke of Cumberland holds horse races on the flat ground below. The year is 1847. You live in Ireland, a country that lived off its cattle until conquest handed the herds to the landlords and left you an acre of potatoes. The potatoes have rotted black in the ground. The ships leaving for England are loaded to the rails with cattle, pigs and butter, and your neighbours are found dead in the ditches with their mouths stained green from eating grass. A million die. The man running relief from the Treasury, Charles Trevelyan, writes that the famine will bring about a salutary revolution in the habits of a nation. He is knighted for his work. The year is 1905. You are Herero, in what is now Namibia, a people whose whole life is cattle. The German general has ordered every Herero shot, with or without cattle, and the rest driven into the desert to die of thirst. In the camp at Swakopmund the women are made to boil the heads of the dead and scrape them clean with shards of glass, for shipping to universities in Germany. Four Herero in five die. The survivors are forbidden by law to own a cow. The year is 1932. You are Kazakh. The Party has taken your herds and sent them to feed Moscow and Leningrad, and the bodies along the roads are stacked like firewood. You pull a sled across the steppe with your dead child on it, and if you run for China the border guards shoot you. Four Kazakhs in ten die, and the ones left become a minority in their own country. The year is 2026. You milk cows in County Cork, where the cattle sailed for England while your great-great-grandparents chewed grass in the ditch, and your own government has modelled culling nearly 200,000 dairy cows to meet a climate target. Take a people's animals and hunger does the rest. The redcoats knew it. The Treasury knew it. The general and the Party knew it. Ireland learned it in a ditch with grass in its mouth, and is now drawing up the list itself.
