This morning I was on the ground with the ICE Air Operations team in Alexandria, LA to observe and assess removal operations. First up, a plane load of Haitians being sent back home—including those with criminal records for aggravated assault, sex assault, kidnapping, battery, and other crimes. This Administration has made it clear that temporary means TEMPORARY, so if your TPS has expired, or you are otherwise in the country illegally, take advantage of our voluntary departure program and return to your home country—or we WILL arrest and deport you. ICE hit a record this week for the most deportations in a day since President Trump resumed office. While FY26 figures are being finalized, we know that last month ICE alone conducted more removals than any other month. Since June, ICE monthly arrest figures have also been higher—as have self-departures recorded by DHS—than any previous months. We are deportation-maxxing—firing on all cylinders while still expanding our capabilities to ramp up removals beyond current record-breaking levels to deliver on the President’s promise for mass deportation, restoring law and order, keeping our communities safe, and American prosperity.

It was my honor to attend the signing of the National Angel Family Day Proclamation today at the White House. I was humbled to be in the presence of the families who tragically lost their loved ones to illegal alien killers. Although heart-shattered, they maintain their resolve to support President Trump in fighting for justice and solutions to these completely preventable crimes enabled by the reckless Biden Administration. I and President Trump have been deeply engaged with angel families for over a decade, and we will always stand with them. Since I have been on the ground here in Minnesota, I have had the opportunity to assess progress of the surge operation, as well as conduct extensive federal, state, local, and community stakeholder outreach to hear their perspectives, obtain better cooperation, and deescalate the intense, unlawful, and dangerous situation that had unfolded here. Today, I was pleased to announce that, —ICE’s target list has been significantly reduced, and many public safety threats have been removed from local communities, —We have obtained an unprecedented level of coordination with counties to notify us before releasing a criminal alien from jail and allowing ICE to assume custody in the safety and security of a jail setting, —Unlawful agitator activity has notably decreased, and —State and local law enforcement has stepped up to shut down unlawful actions committed by agitators. The far left and extreme, organized agitator groups can try to spin this however they want, but these are the facts. Given the success we have achieved here, I announced earlier that I had proposed—and the President concurred with—concluding this surge operation. Our officers/agents deployed here will continue immigration enforcement actions in other locations across the country to deliver on the President’s goals to maintain border security and conduct mass deportations. I want to thank the dedicated, talented men and women of ICE and CBP who have worked tirelessly during this surge operation to enforce federal immigration laws and remove public safety threats from the streets of Minnesota. Minnesota communities are safer as a result. Thank you, President Trump, for your ongoing leadership and commitment to ensuring law and order, public safety, and prosperity for American communities. The dedicated, talented, and compassionate men and women of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of Refugee Resettlement at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services continue to tirelessly to run down hundreds of thousands of leads and work numerous investigations to locate more than 300,000 unaccompanied alien children that the Biden Administration turned over to unvetted sponsors, lost track of, and weren’t looking forward. Through their outstanding efforts, they have so far been able to locate more than 145,000! President Trump promised that we would find these children, and under his strong leadership and with his unwavering support, the patriots at these, and other partner, agencies have been—and will continue to do—just that.

Today I met with Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, and top law enforcement officials to discuss the issues on the ground in Minnesota. We all agree that we need to support our law enforcement officers and get criminals off the streets. While we don’t agree on everything, these meetings were a productive starting point and I look forward to more conversations with key stakeholders in the days ahead. President Trump has been clear: he wants American cities to be safe and secure for law-abiding residents — and they will be.
