Smiths UCP agreed to a 600% carbon tax increase for a pinky promise pipeline in 15 years. The definition of insanity.
A carbon tax hike is buried in the federal-Alberta “memorandum of understanding.” Carbon tax on business will increase to $130/tonne. “It means more than a six times increase in the industrial price on carbon from its effective level” - Carney

Another half-assed measure from a lip-service Premier.
Not so fast. Section 10.1 of the Alberta Human Rights Act allows for preferential hiring based on race, etc. Bill 33 does not repeal Section 10.1. Instead, the Bill adds a bunch of weasily prohibitions and exceptions for provincial bodies. If they meant it, they could just repeal section 10.1. And they should have invoked the Notwithstanding Clause (section 33) of the Charter. They haven't, so provincial bodies in Alberta will still be subject to section 15(1) and (2) of the Charter, which allow (and sometimes may require) reverse discrimination.

I cited these issues in my UCP resignation letter last April. A public inquiry is the only solution. Why is the UCP so afraid of one?
Here we go: Fraud, breach of trust and money laundering inside the GOA! Those are the criminal offences now confirmed to be under investigation by the RCMP in connection with procurement practices at Alberta Health and AHS. This isn’t speculation. It’s in writing, from a Crown prosecutor, in a letter filed with the Alberta courts. For nearly two years, the UCP government has tried to distract and avoid accountability but they can’t hide forever. I raised concerns about these contracting practices, and Albertans deserve answers. The government can continue to deflect and deny, but it cannot avoid a criminal investigation. Accountability will come calling. #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli #ucp #alberta #rcmp #accountability

Every Republican needs to show up and vote on Nov. 3. If the DSA wins, it’s bad news for all of the West.

For a “non-binding referendum” the UCP sure is making it a party purity test.
Loyalty oaths are now being required to be a director of the UCP. "in both my candidacy for, and if elected to, the provincial UCP Board of Directors, I recognize, respect, and will abide by the majority decision made by Albertans on Question #10 of the 26/10/19 Referendum." In other words : I solemnly swear I will be bound by the the non binding opinion poll held on October 19th. 2026… This is NOT in keeping with the the Constitution and Bylaws of the UCP. SMITH IS RUNNING SCARED. Happy Halloween!

There is now, more than ever, a need for a full public inquiry. Sunlight is the greatest disinfectant for a government plagued by corruption.

So we coulda just skipped all that nonsense eh….
Referendum results aren't "binding," UCP says. But voters said they don't want more autonomy from Ottawa. Will Smith pay attention? Column. calgaryherald.com/opinion/co… #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli #yyc #yeg #abreferendum

This clip is only a few years old. The UN 2023 agenda was put on hold because of the unrest amongst Albertans, but now it's back on. The globalists spent a fortune to fight the referendum, and won. Now they can go back to their plan. Just watch what happens in the next 6 months. None of the changes promised on the referendum will happen. Carney will commit Canada to the EU as an associate partner (for now) without a vote. Immigration will increase. The green agenda will resume. Projects will be promised, but won't get built. Censorship, the push for digital ID, mandates and other menas to control us will continue to be promoted as ways to protect us. They're not interested in improving the country. They just want power, for power's sake.

Great work by @Dfildebrandt getting Danielle smith to confirm she wont be doing any of this.
If Danielle Smith wants to save the party and her base, her best play will go as follows because of the results of the referendum: •She must go hard in the paint on immigration. •She must pull the trigger on CPP, police force, and Alberta revenue. (All provincial jurisdiction.) You can read the results of the referendum two ways: 1.Take it as a loss. 2.See what that data tells you. Nearly 50% want federal reforms of the constitution. 6-9 But a super majority want her to take control of provincial jurisdiction 1-5. The immigration question, also a constitutional one, she was told explicitly to take back control of provincial jurisdiction over that. She can let the referendum results talk while she implements the firewall and immigration reform at the same time. Tick tock, Premier.

Smith has set back the conservative movement decades by poisoning the well on decent policy ideas she lacked a spine to just implement.
I don't see how Premier Danielle Smith can call this a victory, or even a mandate. She didn't need a referendum with these 9 question, she should have just gone ahead and done what she heard from Albertans during her "Alberta Next" panel. This stunt backfired on her. Now she doesn't have a mandate, and she can't campaign on this next year. In fact, no one can claim a victory. What a monumental screw up. But the separatists can be proud. We were the under dogs. The establishment had to spend a lot of money to preserve the status quo and defeat us. It's like an Men's League team playing against an NHL team, and only losing 3-1.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said candidates, MLAs, prov and local board reps and candidates, must be on board with federalism. But Smith, when pressed, wouldn't say whether she would disqualify people or kick them out.

Premier Smith stops short of saying she would block any UCP candidates or board members who would fight openly for separation. She says her party respects the refendum results, and she's asking separatists to self-reflect and choose another party if they continue to persue those beliefs.
