Jon Kyl served Arizona honorably for more than three decades. He was a serious and principled lawmaker, with a mastery of policy that made him one of the most effective leaders our state has ever sent to Washington. His fingerprints are all over the issues that continue to define Arizona's future, especially water. I'm thinking of his wife Caryll, his loved ones, former staff and colleagues today.

He shaped generations of students as Dean of ASU's College of Law, where he built one of the nation's finest Indian Legal Programs. Paul believed the law should work for everyone. Arizona's Sikh community, and especially Balbir's brother Rana, turned this senseless tragedy into a powerful call for love, understanding, unity, and forgiveness.

The Supreme Court got this right. No Arizonan should have to wonder whether their ballot will make it through the mail because of a politically motivated rule change 50 days before an election. Voting by mail is safe, secure, and how millions of people make their voices heard. I was proud to join the amicus brief in this case, and I'll keep fighting Trump's voter suppression tactics at every turn.

America just recorded its hottest summer ever, beating the Dust Bowl record from 1936. Despite that, the U.S. still doesn't classify extreme heat as a natural disaster. Extreme heat is deadly, and communities need real relief. My bipartisan HEAT Act would unlock federal disaster funding for deadly heat, while my bill with @RepDinaTitus would strengthen FEMA’s ability to respond to it.
