Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the Jewish year, observed with fasting, prayer, and repentance, and with the work of reconciliation with God and with one another. Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera (@BishopBambera), Bishop of @DioceseOfScr and chairman of the USCCB Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, extends greetings to the Jewish community. Since the promulgation of Nostra Aetate in 1965, Catholics and Jews in the United States have built decades of dialogue and friendship rooted in a shared scriptural heritage. That relationship carries a responsibility: to reject antisemitism in all its forms, to deepen our understanding of Judaism and the Jewish people, and to work so that Jewish communities can live and worship free from hatred and fear.
