Knowing my dad would not be alive to see this published,I read him the intro to the 25th anniv. ed. of “All Saints: Daily Reflections on Saints, Prophets and Witnesses for Our Time” (Crossroad, this fall), describing his influence on my belief in the power of living witness.
I love this teacher, Robert Nicastro, who with Center for Christogenesis and Sr. Ilia Delio are helping me renarrate a Christianity that is science-friendly, radically inclusive, open-system. Please join me. Registration link below

It was very healing to attend the International Thomas Merton Society, where I delivered a presentation on Sister Wendy’s evolving views on her fellow hermit Thomas Merton. Much of the contents in this podcast: youtu.be/nY00UZAoEqg

Blaise Pascal was born 400 years ago today on June 19 2023. I wrote this reflection 3 years ago during the initial COVID lockdown.
#MastersofSocialIsolation #2. Blaise Pascal (1662), scientist, philosopher, Christian apologist, diagnosed the human condition: “Boredom, inconstancy, anxiety.” His case for Xty was based on his examination of human nature, particularly our insatiable need for diversion.

The last movie we watched together was Venus, wherein Peter O'Toole plays an aging actor whose last wish, before dying, is to dip his bare feet into the ocean. Afterward Dad was wracked with emotion--more so than any time in the months since his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer.

What a mystery — this wisdom of the #Trinity. #AugustineOfHippo writes,"The Father is wisdom, the Son is wisdom, and the Holy Spirit is wisdom, and together they are not three wisdoms but one wisdom." Let's explore further. #DailyMeditations ow.ly/JzWt30svExJ

This interview is one of the most instructive and inspiring reads ever. Thank you @RobertEllsberg. Daniel Ellsberg’s conscience along with Thomas Merton’s “Faith and Violence,” contributed to my becoming a Conscientious Objector
Replying to @RobertEllsberg
At one point he said, if he were to have a gravestone, that he would say: "He became a part of the anti-Vietnam and anti-nuclear movement." By chance, my interview about him, for release this Father's Day weekend, was posted today. plough.com/en/topics/justice…

One of our inspiring towering Americans. We need to keep him lifted up.
When I was a child, #HarryBelafonte showed up for my family in very compassionate ways.
In fact, he paid for the babysitter for me and my siblings.
Here he is mourning with my mother at the funeral service for my father at Morehouse College.
I won’t forget…Rest well, sir.
