So is (avowed separatist) @FreeAlbertaRob getting a pink slip, @ABDanielleSmith?? What about @McAllisterBruce? Which ministers are you going to axe? Asking for the provincial taxpayers. #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli

We shouldn’t have to hold press conferences just so people can be treated with basic dignity. Ben is fully dependent and requires wraparound care. Yet he was denied AISH and told he should get a job. If it weren’t for his courageous mother speaking out and fighting on his behalf, who knows what would have happened to him. Danielle Smith and the UCP should be ashamed.

🚨🚨🚨 HERE IS THE JIMMY KIMMEL INTERVIEW WITH JAMES TALARICO THAT DONALD TRUMP DOES NOT WANT YOU TO SEE. PLEASE SHARE THIS FAR AND WIDE AS IT IS A MASTERCLASS MUST-WATCH SEGMENT 🚨🚨🚨 Trump didn’t just “move an interview to YouTube.” He tried to censor James Talarico — the Democrat now leading Ken Paxton in Texas Senate polls — off broadcast television. Desperate Don's corrupted FCC didn’t need an official ban. It put ABC licenses under extraordinary early review and warned stations that a late-night interview with a candidate could trigger federal “equal time” punishment. Texas affiliates got the message. So voters in the state that decides this race were not allowed to see the interview on free TV. That is election interference with a regulatory gun to the network’s head. This is pure corruption of the free press and the first amendment. Trump went on that same show twice while he was running. No problem. Talarico starts polling ahead of Paxton in Texas? Suddenly the Depression-era broadcast rule becomes a weapon. They didn’t put a censor in the control room. They used fear. They used licenses. They used the FCC to keep a leading challenger off the public airwaves. The First Amendment exists to protect speech FROM the government — not to protect Ken Paxton from a candidate Texans might actually vote for. This whole sordid incident highlights a big problem for Canadian conservatives. The trolling and mockery of people at a Canadian cadet camp (including a teenager) by Hegseth started with posts from alt right Canadian "influencers," following a now familiar pattern. It doesn't take these anger merchants of the Canadian right very long to figure out that there is a *much* bigger market for their bile in the United States. The US is 8x our population, but polling suggests that the percentage of Americans who are tuned into MAGA style populism is at least 4 times greater than Canada. So by producing content that appeals to the MAGA base, right wing Canadian content producers have a huge incentive to speak to an adjacent American market that is orders of magnitude larger than their accessible audience in Canada. That gets monetized through higher engagement numbers, and if they're really lucky, invitations to appear on MAGA media outlets that build their brand. One way of doing so is content that mocks Canada. That appeals both to the small cohort of perennially angry hard right populists in Canada, plus the much larger number of Americans prone to believe that Canada is a socialist dystopia under the thrall of the Chinese Communist Party, etc. The Hegseth post followed a similar pattern. Right wing Canadian quisling posts mockery of Canada, it ricochets around the US online right, gets on the radar screen of a social media staffer in the Trump Administration, and voila: a post from the Secretary of War body shaming young cadets in Vernon, BC. High fives all round! In this case the US traction came from the "Pleb Reporter" account of libertarian live streamer Nick Belanger, who was one of the Maga North / Alberta separatist content producers given free red carpet treatment at the @CPC_HQ Convention earlier this year. One prominent Conservative MP (who should know better) said he was "proud to welcome these content creators, these citizen journalists who serve to uphold the truth" to the Convention. If that is really the attitude of the Conservative Party towards these unpatriotic anger merchants, it should get used to a very, very long run in opposition. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be this way. A positive, patriotic conservatism that focuses on the concerns of the broad mainstream rather than these marginal voices of division can win back the confidence of Canadians.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE UCP TALKS ABOUT FREEDOM - UNTIL IT COMES TO POLITICAL COMPETITION The UCP likes to portray itself as the defender of freedom in Alberta. Evidently, that freedom has its limits when someone decides to compete with them politically. When we sought to revive the Progressive Conservative name in Alberta, the UCP responded with threats, interference in our application with Elections Alberta and ultimately a lawsuit seeking injunctions and $500,000 in damages against our party and individuals personally. The UCP lawsuit claimed they had maintained the PC Alberta trademarks and had the exclusive right to use them. That was challenged. On August 31st, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office released its decision. The Registrar found that the UCP failed to provide evidence beyond “bare assertions” demonstrating use of the PC marks during the relevant three-year period and ordered all three trademark registrations expunged. This is fascinating. The UCP went to court claiming trademark infringement and seeking $500,000 in damages while the trademarks at the center of that claim were ultimately ordered expunged for non-use. And when the legal process wasn't enough to prevent political competition, the UCP government changed the law with Bill 14 to restrict other political parties from using the word “Conservative” in their name. That is not how a confident government behaves, and it certainly isn't in the best interests of Albertans. Freedom includes political freedom. It means allowing people to organize, compete, challenge government and offer Albertans another choice without having the power of government or costly litigation used as a hammer over their heads. We expect the UCP to immediately withdraw its lawsuit in light of this decision. The Tory Party @progressivetory will also continue examining every available avenue to challenge the government's interference through Bill 14. And when given the opportunity to govern, we will introduce meaningful anti-SLAPP legislation in Alberta so lawsuits cannot be used simply to intimidate or silence legitimate public participation. Government should win arguments by having better ideas - not by trying to eliminate the competition or intimidate opponents. They may have prevented us from using the Progressive Conservative name, but they didn't prevent us from competing. We are the Tory Party, and we are here to stay. Hon. Peter Guthrie MLA Airdrie-Cochrane Leader, Progressive Tory Party of Alberta #abtory #ableg #abpoli #alberta #ucp #antislapp

.@ABDanielleSmith Let’s set the record straight. Premier’s social media accounts aren’t managed by public servants. They are managed by her own political staff in the Premier’s Office. Blaming public servants for canceling First Nations is dishonorable and it’s another lie.

Chantal Hébert on Howard Lutnick saying PM Carney manufactured a crisis: "That was a deliberate effort to create more divisions in what is so far a relatively united federal-provincial front. And if you don't see it as interference in Canadian politics — that will backfire because there is not enough credibility attached to anyone on the Trump team."

Alberta separatists spend more time producing weird AI videos than offering thoughtful, detailed answers to dozens of serious questions, like: - How does a landlocked statelet get coastal pipelines built? - How would Alberta negotiate a favourable separation agreement on everything from debt allocation to Canadian market access when it would require ratification by Parliament, and the nine other provinces? - If Canada is divisible, then why isn't Alberta? How would an Alberta statelet deal with partition by Edmonton, Calgary, and 48 First Nations when they insist on remaining part of Canada? Send in nonexistent troops? - When First Nations refuse to re-assign their Treaty relationships to a separate Alberta, how will you deal with dozens of blockades on highways and railways, and the end of indigenous cooperation with the energy industry? - Would Alberta freeload off Canada for its national defence? If not, how would it finance a $25 billion military (at NATO's 5% / GDP benchmark?) - How many hundreds of billions of dollars will it cost Alberta taxpayers to buy the 12% of the province's landmass owned by the Government of Canada? - How would years of protracted negotiations, or unilateral declaration of independence, maintain rather than destroy investor confidence? - Roughly half of Albertans indicate in polls that they would leave a separate Alberta. What impact would this have on the tax base, labour market, housing market, etc., and what's your contingency plan for massive emigration? - Would the Republic of Alberta use the Canadian currency, with zero input in Canadian monetary policy? - What happens when Alberta suddenly loses largely tariff free access to 55 countries around the world, including the United States? - How do Albertans travel internationally when a separate Alberta has no standing in the International Air Transport Association's Multilateral Interline Traffic Agreements? - The ultimate bosses of separatism (Sylvester and Rath) say that the roughly half of Albertans born outside the province will not be eligible for Alberta citizenship. Will they be subject to deportation? Or will they graciously be allowed to stay indefinitely as guest workers? There are hundreds of questions like these that the separatists have made no serious effort to answer. But by all means, keep on making wacky videos. Doing so shows everyone how profoundly unserious the Alberta separatist movement is.
