Austin Rivers says a NBA player reached out to him for advice, explaining that he felt the team wasn’t utilizing him properly and he wasn’t getting minutes. Rivers advised do whatever the team asks of you, and gradually they’ll give you more and more responsibility. It’s a gradual progression. He pointed to Jalen Brunson, who started out coming off the bench, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who began as a defender with the Clippers; both perfected their roles and eventually became stars.
