Driving Zodiac, Point Wild, Elephant Island, made famous by the Shackleton’s disastrous #Antarctica ‘Endurance’ expedition. Nice to be back here.

Scientific data does show a notable, population-wide shift in human behavior and personality traits following the pandemic. Here are two prominent studies for your review, plus the Pew Research Center Study, thrown in for extra measure.
1. The FSU College of Medicine "Pandemic Personality" Study
The Findings: The study found statistically significant population-wide declines in Agreeableness (the capacity for empathy, trust, sympathy, and cooperation) and Extraversion (sociability and the desire to seek out others' company) by 2021/2022. The shifts were so severe that researchers stated the population experienced the equivalent of a decade of normal personality alteration compressed into just two years. Younger adults were hit hardest, showing sharp increases in neuroticism paired with a steep drop in overall friendliness and compliance with social norms.
2. The College Student Cognitive Empathy Study. The Study: Published in the Journal of American College Health (2022), this longitudinal study tracked college students' psychological well-being and empathic capacity immediately before and during the pandemic phases.
The Findings: The researchers observed a significant decline in cognitive empathy (the psychological capacity to take another person's perspective or understand their mental and emotional state). This degradation of perspective-taking directly mirrors the "colder" and more "detached" behavior observed in the general public, as individuals became structurally less capable of processing or caring about the experiences of those around them while battling their own chronic stress and isolation.
The Pew Research Center also reveals that 47% of American adults explicitly report that public human behavior became significantly ruder and more aggressive since the onset of the pandemic.
I came across a Reddit post that described AI in a way I can’t stop thinking about:
“AI allows the wealthy to access skills while stripping skilled people of their ability to access wealth.”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the purpose of AI captured so brutally and accurately.

Many Israeli citizens were killed by Israeli forces on October 7.
28 Apache helicopters used all their ammunition and had to be reloaded.
Mainstream media will never tell you about the Hannibal Directive.
Here’s our report with @pularjs on what really happened on Oct 7:

Completely unsurprised to see National pulling the 'in case of losing an election blame beneficiaries' lever.
My 9yo had a CT scan of his head today. The up side is, he could be the first member of our family to ever have the presence of a 🧠 medically confirmed. Here’s hoping for a positive result

Finished a photo assignment for @NZGeographic today on our giant native dragonflies, and a Scottish odonatologist taught me the Scottish word for tickling a trout: Guddling.
My Pembroke Welsh Cattle-dog’s kryptonite is a tummy tickle. I’m going to call it ‘Corgi Guddling’

Watching the leaders debate. It strikes me that it’s the first time I’ve heard Luxon stand up for anything or say something of substance, instead of fudging. Where has this Luxon been for the last 3 years? This is the problem isn’t it, it’s in well prepared fantasy promise month?
Just attended the Tawa Pride in Work awards dinner by Rotary. Awesome to see both Jill Day (Labour Party Pres & Community Board Chair) and Greg O’Connor (newly City Councillor and MP) attending instead of watching the Leaders Debate. That is community commitment

That’s about 20 Epstein whistleblowers who have now ‘died by suicide’.
Absolutely nothing suspicious about that at all…
Taken me months to cancel my Stuff Post subscription. Still haven’t achieved it. I’m sick of this. And now a new page asking for my subscriber ID which isn’t available in any of my settings. This is next level nonsense

It took 1071 days to dig those bodies out of the rubble because Israel is banning bulldozers, trucks & excavators from entering Gaza, so people mostly have to dig with their bare hands!
8000 bodies under 44 billion pounds of rubble!
