The TinySeed Millionaire Rate is 43%. Definition: Of @tinyseedfund companies no longer in operation (sold OR shut down), 43% of those founders are now millionaires.๐Ÿ’ฐ This % will obviously change over time. It's still early, and the numbers are still small (~2% of companies have shut down. ~4% have sold). But this is yet another reminder of how resilient and insanely valuable SaaS companies are. Personally, I find this number incredible. Much higher than I would have expected, and it brings me nothing but joy knowing the lives that have been changed through entrepreneurship. Iโ€™ve invested in 375 founders. The most successful tend to share these 3 traits.
Rob Walling has worked closely with hundreds of founders. The best ones take action, have decent judgement and are coachable. His 48 hours versus eight weeks story is a cracker. Full chat with @robwalling: innovationphilosophie.riversโ€ฆ

A SaaS founder I advise has had their domain name taken over (domain hosted at @Namecheap). If you have an internal contact at Namecheap who might be able to help, please DM me.

A LOT of people have been asking when my MicroConf talk on SaaS moats would go live. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Itโ€™s here, along with Einarโ€™s talk. Think of them as parts one and two of the same question: What makes a SaaS business defensible when AI makes software so easy to build?
Our first two talks from MicroConf Europe in Reykjavรญk are now out! @robwalling covers which SaaS moats still hold up in the age of AI. @einarvollset picks up from there: if anyone can copy your features in hours, where does defensibility come from? Links in ๐Ÿงต:

99.3% of the people telling you that โ€œdistribution is the only moat remainingโ€ have never distributed anything except that opinion.

You can build a SaaS product faster than ever. You can also waste months on one faster than ever. Which is an impressive, deeply unhelpful technological achievement. ๐Ÿค– AI has shortened the distance between โ€œI have an ideaโ€ and โ€œlook what I built. โ€ Thatโ€™s why I wrote my new book โ˜บ๏ธ It's called ๐˜๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ. After building and selling SaaS companies and investing in more than 240 others, I have a lot to say about what happens before you start coding. โ€ข Finding a problem worth solving โ€ข Figuring out whether you can reach the people who have it โ€ข Testing whether theyโ€™ll pay โ€ข Knowing when you have enough evidence to start building ๐Ÿ“š Pre-orders opened Tuesday . Thank you to everyone whoโ€™s bought a copy or helped spread the word. And if you tried to find it on Amazon earlier this week and couldnโ€™t, ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป. Itโ€™s now listed on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and several European Amazon sites. Apparently, launching a book about software also involves waiting for software ๐Ÿคท ๐ŸŽ Pre-order a physical copy and get the ebook or audiobook free, plus four tools I built to go with the book. If you know someone whoโ€™s about to disappear into a building spree, send this their way. Iโ€™d appreciate it ๐Ÿ™

Introducing Inbox Zero Mail. The open-source Superhuman alternative. - Fast and keyboard-first - Unified inbox across Gmail and Outlook - Split inboxes - AI categorization and drafts - Bulk unsubscribe - Team collaboration Runs on web, desktop, and native iOS. Free to use. AI is $20/mo, half Superhumanโ€™s price. Open source, so you can self-host for free too. This isn't an overnight vibe-coded project. I've been running Inbox Zero for 3 years: 12k GitHub stars, 25k+ sign-ups, and enterprise customers. Until today, Inbox Zero was an AI assistant for Gmail and Outlook. It still is. But now we have our own email app too. We're SOC 2 compliant, and have undergone multiple pentests, including recent ones from OpenAI and Snyk using unreleased cyber models. Try it: getinboxzero.com

๐Ÿ“š I'm taking pre-orders for my new book starting today: ๐˜๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ: ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ ๐˜‰๐˜ถ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜š๐˜ข๐˜ข๐˜š ๐˜•๐˜ฐ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ž๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ด ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ˆ๐˜จ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ˆ๐˜ Sixteen years ago, I wrote ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ต ๐˜š๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ, ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜บ ๐˜š๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ for developers with a day job and an itch to build something of their own. Since then, my books have sold more than 100,000 copies. ๐Ÿค– A lot has changed since 2010. AI lets you build software in an afternoon that once took months. But it doesnโ€™t stop you from building something nobody wants. It just lets you do it faster. ๐Ÿ’ธ Finding a problem people will pay to solve. Talking to customers when youโ€™d rather be coding. Getting strangers to give you money. Those parts still take work. And another weekend of prompting doesn't make them go away. So I wrote the book Iโ€™d hand a founder starting from zero today: โœ… Sixteen more years of launches, wins, and expensive mistakes โœ… More than 240 SaaS investments โœ… Everything Iโ€™d tell you before you disappear into a month-long building spree Derek Sivers wrote the foreword. His verdict: โ€œThis is now the ultimate current authority on the subject, updated for a very different world.โ€ ๐Ÿ”ฅ Available for pre-order today (and get several bonuses only if you pre-order). Grab your copy at the link below ๐Ÿ‘‡ Whether you buy a copy, give this a RT, or both, I appreciate your support ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Why would I pay $15/month for your software when I can plan, build, review, improve, host, launch, scale, secure, patch, monitor and debug it myself?

Y'all are gonna want to check out this new podcast from @drsherrywalling ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡
When did we all start waiting for permission? Permission to rest (revolutionary, I know). Or to change your mind. Or to want a completely different life than the one you spent years building. I didn't have an answer, so I did the reasonable thing and started a podcast.
