Outrage mounts that United Arab Emirates diplomat Lana Nusseibeh thinks she could be UN secretary-general despite having served as a lead apologist for the UAE's military support for the genocidal Rapid Support Forces paramilitary in Sudan. trib.al/BiQAEJN

On ABC Radio, I discuss why Lana Nusseibeh is an utterly inappropriate candidate for UN secretary-general because she was a lead apologist as her United Arab Emirates sent arms and mercenaries to the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan to commit genocide.Β

I've been reading through this, which was released today, and let me tell you - it is a hot mess.
Jillian Segal (well let's face it, the taxpayer-funded team who work for her) has delivered a line of limited thinking that aims to insert itself into every aspect of Australian life - with no peer review, or any form of independent assessment. We are expected to simply take the Antisemitism Envoy at their word and shut up.
As usual, it presents as a wandering discourse of unevidenced claims, taking particular aim at the increasing dissatisfaction with Israel by most of the western world and hiding it within the cloak of 'antisemitism' - a word tossed about freely throughout the document, a word that underwrites the document and all it's radical thought-policing, but a word that they fail to provide with any concrete definition or cohesive meaning.

I am alive and free.
Settlers tried to kill us because we caught them locking several Palestinian communities from leaving their homes - very illegally, even by Israeli occupation's laws.
I'm concussed and very tired, so I'll tell the story tomorrow.

Name-calling human rights defenders is a tactic of abusive power: ignore-mock- insult. Each step admits they've no answer, they are exposed.
Never feel alone in the fight for justice. Lets stand up, everywhere.
Let them count how many we are.

The US response to my UN report fails to refute any of my legal findings that the US has murdered 244 civilians at sea. Instead it resorts to childish name-calling. Iβm obviously not a terrorist sympathizer - but the US is committing extrajudicial killings ohchr.org/sites/default/fileβ¦

We have reached a sorry place when people are turning to AI for moral/ethical guidance. Whatβs right and wrong are not facts to be determined. They are judgments only human beings can or should make.

We are utterly heartbroken by learning of the brutal killing of two wonderful NRC colleagues yesterday in PortβauβPrince,Β Haiti.
Our two colleagues, Bonaparte FΓ©vrier and Richard Alexandre, were cherished friends and colleagues within our NRC family in Haiti and across the world.
They worked tirelessly as key members of our heroic Haiti team to prevent and alleviate the growing suffering of their fellow Haitians. We mourn with their families and condemn the senseless violence that took the lives of two young men who only wished to provide aid and protection to vulnerable communities that suffer so much from the endemic violence and displacement that has engulfed so many in Haiti.
We call on all parties concerned, including Haitian authorities as well as the international community, to do everything in their power to protect civilians, uphold international law, and prevent further violence.
Neither the Haitian society nor the outside world can tolerate that civilians, including aid workers, are killed with impunity.
We owe it to Bonaparte and Richard to continue their humanitarian mission in Haiti and to bear witness to the atrocities there.
They will always be remembered and we will always be grateful for their vital contribution to our humanitarian work in Haiti and elsewhere.

Hi, I'm free.
Beat up but fine. Police stole my phone. Settlers punched me in the face several times, likely broke @AdeleShoko's wrist and gave @the_andrey_x a concussion. They threatened to shoot us with an assault rifle over and over.
Will tell the full story later, but for now, I just want to be clear about what happened. We witnessed two settlers locking a military gate in Umm al-Khair, blocking the only way to more than twenty Palestinian communities: trapping families inside, preventing students from reaching school and workers from their jobs, blocking delivery of food and access to ambulances, etc.
It's a crime that the military has this ability at all--but last night, we discovered that random settler terrorists also have the key. We confronted them and began asking questions on camera, and they nearly murdered us for it. When the police finally arrived, they arrested Andrey and me and charged us with assault.
The gate is still locked.

Human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha deserve justice. Today they were sentenced to ten years in prison on counts of βterrorism.β Their crime? Defending activists, lawyers and marginalized communities that were subjected to enforced disappearances and unjust charges.
They underwent an unfair trial for this fearless human rights work. Authorities must immediately release Imaan and Hadi and drop all charges against them.
