To test what LunCoSim can actually do, we’re building @astrobotic Griffin-1 mission to the Moon as a working simulation. Griffin is the lander, and Astrolab’s FLIP rover rides on it. This is part of our work with @OfficialMoonDAO lunar base infrastructure.
It’s not a render. The lander and rover are connected the way they are in reality. FLIP’s power and thermal systems are real models attached to the vehicle, so when the rover drives, power draw and temperatures change as a consequence, not as a scripted animation. The mission sequence is code you can read and edit. Change a waypoint, rerun it, see what breaks.
The part we keep coming back to is provenance. Public Griffin and FLIP numbers are recorded with sources. Everything not yet public is clearly marked as a placeholder. That matters. A sim you can’t trace is just a video. A sim that tracks where every number came from is something you can actually argue with.
LunCoSim is still alpha and open source. We’re building in the open, and yes, we’re still tuning our own processes. If you’re working on lunar or planetary missions, we’d love your eyes on it.
We’ll be at a side event at @IAC2026Antalya in Belek on Oct 7, 18:30, showing the Griffin-1 model and gathering feedback. Bring a laptop if you want to drive the rover yourself.

Throwback to the time they stuck a IMAX camera on a satellite the shuttle was deploying and got some of the best in space footage ever taken.
God I hope NASA takes some IMAX cameras to the moon on Artemis 4, it would be so dope.

Hot staging is one of the most incredible things to witness during these launches. This is the best shot I've captured of that moment- during flight 5.
Flight 14 is as soon as Monday. The first operational orbital flight of Starship. It's been quite a long road to get here.

Tbh I agree, what has the invention of space rockets ACTUALLY done for us?
Like, apart from weather forecasts, GPS, live television anywhere, environmental monitoring, emergency beacons, smaller computers, advances in medicine, international cooperation that outlasted several governments, near Earth warning systems, mobile phones, what have rockets ever actually done to benefit normal people 🤔

Launched on Sept. 5, 1977—16 days after Voyager 2—Voyager 1 quickly overtook its twin as they journeyed to explore the outer solar system.
Today Voyager 1 is the most distant human-made object, and on Nov. 18, it will reach another historic milestone: one light-day from Earth. At that distance, a signal from Earth will take 24 hours to reach the spacecraft—and another 24 hours to return.
