Today's announcement marks an extraordinary 45 years of service to his country, WA & the people of our State. Before entering Parliament, Paul had a distinguished career in the Navy, commanding a Clearance Diving Team, a patrol boat & the Navy's submarine escape & rescue service.
This morning, my friend Paul Papalia announced he'll be retiring from State Parliament.
I want to sincerely thank Paul for everything he's given to our State over nearly two decades in Parliament.
I’d also like to say thank you to every Western Australia working this weekend to keep our state moving, particularly those getting our fuel to where it’s needed most.
Enjoy your Easter long weekend and stay safe WA.
This is the WA Government’s weekly Friday Fuel Update to keep the public informed on our state’s fuel security.
These updates detail the specific actions we are taking to manage supply chain issues caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
This will mean cheaper fuel for families, farmers and business and comes on top if the 26.3 cent reduction funded by the Commonwealth Government.
It will be funded through the return of up to $400 million in GST and will last until 30 June.
We’re dropping fuel prices by a further 5.7¢ per litre. Combined with the 26.3¢ excise cut, that’s a total saving of 32¢ per litre.
I welcome the Prime Minister's decision to halve the fuel excise for three months, saving WA motorists 26.3 cents per litre.
We’re working closely with fuel suppliers to support a stable and reliable supply across the State, including in regional communities.
Western Australia has stared down global challenges before, and we will do what we need to do to keep WA strong.
I know this is an anxious time for many Western Australians.
I want to reassure Western Australians that your state government is doing everything it can to address these concerns.
We’ll provide clear, consistent information so that Western Australians remain informed as we navigate these global pressures together.

Beginning today, the WA Government will provide a weekly Friday Fuel Update to keep the public informed on our state’s fuel security.
These updates will detail the specific actions we are taking to manage supply chain issues caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
This morning the Prime Minister convened a meeting of National Cabinet.
It was an important step forward to drive national coordination on fuel security and fuel supply.
These are difficult times for all Australians. We are faced with complex challenges in our community amid ever-changing threats.
But my Government is dedicated to keeping Western Australians safe.
Any attack on our First Nations people is an attack on all of us, and this is not what it means to be Australian.
But we must allow police to complete their investigation, so the justice process can take place.
And later today, I will meet with members of the Western Australian Aboriginal community.
I know there is anxiety across our community, especially amongst Aboriginal Western Australians.
It’s a priority that runs to the very heart of what we do as a Government - and a priority I feel deeply about.
The people in the crowd that day were peacefully protesting - as is the right of all Australians.
