Late stage capitalism: A supermarket throws perfectly good food in the dumpster, pays its workers so little they can barely afford groceries, then asks customers to donate to the food bank at checkout. And we're supposed to admire how fucking efficient this system is.

This is getting tedious but… @AbdulElSayed has faced months of racism and bigotry that has put his safety & his families safety at risk. He has been defamed by politicians & the media relentlessly. Throughout he has maintained his dignity & good humour when most people would have cracked. The journalist in this clip was told repeatedly that Abdul was not giving interviews. He was told that Abdul wanted to focus only on Michigan. Recently the same journalist has said to Abdul “Trump says your full of shit”. Neither you nor I know the full context of this recent encounter because Sky chose to broadcast the short clip. It is a fact that victims of racism, in politics & elsewhere, are expected to play by a set of rules. They’re expected to take it. They are not supposed to react emotionally. They are not to push back. Because they know that when they do, their reaction will get more coverage & condemnation than the bigotry they face. Your response, joining in with a huge number of people, kind of proves the point. Take the shit thrown at you. Don’t be ‘unpleasant’. PS other cultures have different norms when it comes to physical contact. But you know that don’t you.

I'd really really like to see the full video of this @jamesmatthewsky. What was the interaction before this response? Why don't we see that? Why is it just El-Sayed talking to you without context? In a previous clip posted a month ago, you approached El-Sayed getting into a car and ignored him when he said he wasn't giving an interview. He eventually relented and gave you a (great) response about Donald Trump shitting his pants in the Oval Office. So what did you ask him before he responded like this? Did he say he didn't want to take questions like last time? Did you put another question to him using insulting characterisations from Donald Trump?
Michigan's Democratic candidate for Senate Abdul El-Sayed confronted @jamesmatthewsky, telling him he wouldn't answer his questions as he wants "zero" votes in the UK. Watch the heated exchange between the two. Watch our live coverage of the US midterms➡️ trib.al/BikRSb2

The way that Clive Tyldesley went from ITV's lead to being frozen out altogether in the space of 4 years is still a disgrace to this day & unbelievably hasn't had a UK gig since Amazon ended their Premier League coverage in 2024. How do ITV still think Sam Matterface is better?
It’s just so bizarre that the best English UCL commentator is on American coverage

You have to be joking. There is absolutely no way Abdul El-Sayed would have been allowed to stand as a Labour MP - and most likely would have been kicked out of the Party years ago. The Labour Party blocked Faiza Shaheen standing as a candidate for sharing a skit by Jon Stewart and talking about her own experience of Islamophobia.
When you vilify, smear and demonise good people who refuse to let your hate define them, other good people don't stand by. They stand up and vote for hope over fear. Congratulations @AbdulElSayed 🎉

It's a sickening spectacle to see Labour MPs who think anti-Zionism is racism celebrating the election of Abdul Al-Sayed--an anti-Zionist Muslim who they would've expelled from their party

Maddening to see Labour MPs celebrating El-Sayed win. He would have been unceremoniously dumped out their party on his ass and none of them would have said a word to defend him.

My favorite story in the Bible is where a disabled man asked Jesus to heal him, and Jesus asked to see his insurance card first. But the man was uninsured, so Jesus told him to get fucked and get a job.

Hearing what Starmer and Reeves are now saying about Brexit, you realise what a lost opportunity their administration was. Some day — when the full horror of what’s happening in Gaza is acknowledged— they’ll no doubt become fierce critics of Israel. What a waste of time they were

I hear this dude’s name more now than when he was leader of the Green Party. Amazing what a platform the media will give to people prepared to kick the left
🚨 NEW: Green MP Adrian Ramsay will go public on Sunday to criticise Zack Polanski's leadership and claim the party been taken over by pro-Palestinian activists who have replaced its environmental values

Absolutely wrong. I called this out with Tories on GB News. Ayesha was given a Labour peerage & takes the Labour whip. She should not be interviewing Labour colleagues - especially when the party is in government. (Can you imagine @SkyNews allowing this if it was @theSNP ?)

BBC's Laura Kuenssberg repeatedly suggests to Zack Polanski it's not the job of the Greens to tell Jews what Zionism means. But like other journalists, Kuenssberg does think it's her job to tell Palestinians – the victims of Zionism – what the ideology oppressing them means.

One of France’s most iconic historical moments is a revolution that ended with its king losing his head. Its literary heritage, from Les Misérables onwards, is steeped in revolt. Condemn violence and desecration of cultural heritage, absolutely. But selectively screengrabbing riots to frame them as immigrants versus the French, then labelling it “cultural suicide” or “Islamic”, is political opportunism. These protests involve people from different backgrounds, protesting their government and the conditions they live under. Disagree with the method all you please, however, reducing the unrest to an anti-immigrant narrative isn’t defending French culture. It’s exploiting unrest to scapegoat minorities and push an agenda, and it's hoping the people you're trying to convince are historically illiterate.

This is poor. How can you ‘park off-field matters’ when they manifestly impact on-field matters?
It’s looks ominous for the rest of the Premier League if Manchester City continue at this pace. That said, it’s so early into the season that it would be foolish to think it’s wrapped up already. Let’s park the off-field matters for a moment and focus on whether any opponent is capable of keeping up. Arsenal certainly have the strength in depth and Chelsea are beginning to look like a force. Liverpool clearly need time, as was highlighted in the defeat to Manchester City last week. But while seven wins out of seven games is a blistering start, it’s still a very small sample size and there’s still so much to go through. Liverpool won the first five games last season as champions and look what followed. @greggevans40 🔗 nyti.ms/4sbjL9n
