Sarah Longwell: The point of The Bulwark is to elect Dems. Me: The point of The Bulwark is to elect Dems. Every single individual Bulwark writer simultaneously: I am Captain Intellectual Honesty, President Founder and CEO of Nonpartisan Industries, the only person on EARTH free from tribal allegiance. Now here, sit down and relax and let me explain to you how I reached my completely honest nonpartisan independent conclusion that the Democrats are right on literally not figuratively every single issue at every single level in every single election, also you’re a racist if you disagree. Please. Let’s be adults here.

So here’s how this would have gone down not long ago/should go down today: Prankster promptly gets his ass beaten, somewhere between roughed up and hospital visit—just enough to get the point across. The cops would be called, store manager explains the situation, and prankster spends a night in the county lock up just to make sure the lesson sinks in. This is how you maintain a high trust society.
Working people out there are reaching the boiling point at a pretty large scale. When people collectively start to come unglued it isn’t going to be pretty.

You see that dip in global life expectancy in the 1950s? That was caused by one man, Mao Zedong. Mbappe should have apologised only for not being ruder about him.

Apparently this needs to be said, but the UN is basically a debate club. It’s not a sovereign nation and its properties do not have sovereign status like an embassy. The UN HQ in NYC is lessee and is still under the laws of the USA.
Mike Waltz, US envoy to UN, is confused as he shouts at Cuban diplomats, saying: "This is America!" but the UN is international territory: UN 101

The UN headquarters district remains US territory under the 1947 Headquarters Agreement, where federal, state and local US law applies except as otherwise provided; the agreement grants inviolability but does not transfer sovereignty to the UN. en.wikisource.org/wiki/UN-US_Hea… treaties.un.org/doc/Publicatio… history.state.gov/historicaldocu…

Sadly, this kind of thing was only a matter of time.
Earlier today, the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero in Manhattan was defaced with graffiti. I wear on my wrist the names of over a hundred friends and colleagues who lost their lives in the attacks twenty five years ago. 1/2

Philadelphia is preparing to become the first city in the nation to offer this mortgage model, with lower interest rates, no private mortgage insurance, and credit scores as low as 620.

This whole Jay Z situation is fascinating. Dude gets paid millions to manage the halftime show and just decides to do it himself. Does he pay himself? Does he do it for free? I have so many questions.
JAY-Z is officially headlining the Super Bowl LXI halftime show. He is set to take over the stage in February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Ya'll, this is nuts. Hundreds - that's right, HUNDREDS - of armed robberies between 2022 and 2024 weren't real. They were staged by the "victims" as part of a massive immigration fraud scheme to secure U-visas for themselves and their families. cwbchicago.com/2026/10/buckt…

Sly is absolutely correct. Nepotism only became a bad word in the last 60 years or so. We are biologically hardwired to give our offspring every advantage in life. It’s a literal survival mechanism. To deny it is to deny our nature.
The actor, who plays the lead role and serves as executive producer on the series, said that it was “of course nepotism”, adding it was incumbent on him to ensure his children “have every advantage” in life. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

At this point we just need to assume every government subsidized program is fraud until proven otherwise.

Barack Obama was horrible in a million different ways, but he doesn’t get anywhere near the hate he deserves for destroying the used car market for an entire generation. 15-year-old cars with 150,000 miles that should be selling for $3,000 are going for $15,000. It’s abominable. Pure destruction and thievery.

The Iranian economy is in shambles, the country has Great Depression levels of unemployment, inflation is over 100%, oil exports and revenue have dropped to $0, the Iranian Rial has collapsed over 60% of its value vs the Dollar since March, almost its entire navy has been sunk, virtually the entire upper echelons of the government were decapitated in the opening salvo of the war, and there now appears to be a growing rebellion against the central government in Balochistan. In what universe does this put Iran in a stronger strategic position now than in January?
NOW - Obama says that Iran is "in a stronger strategic position now than before the war started."

You have to understand that for the average person “history” began with WW2 and anything before that is more like fantasy lore fanfic that they’re not quite sure is canon.

Just watched The Deer Hunter for the first time in years. A stark reminder of just how badly the blue collar working class was betrayed in our country.
