This weekend, along with a group of 12 from @AllAboardOhio SW chapter I had the pleasure of taking @Amtrak from Cincinnati to Chicago. This will be a thread 🧵 of my experience taking the #cardinal line

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will cost $300M+. In Aug 2023, Metro said the plan was 83% dedicated lanes for BRT. Now that is down to 70%. The result: our goal is now only 20% ⬇️in travel time vs 25-30% more ambitious goal. We need to do this right!

Metro is absolutely not being ambitious enough, or being told the project be too ambitious, radical, or successful.
Love @cincinnatimetro & what they are doing designing Bus Rapid Transit. But we need to push further on reducing travel times. A 20% reduction is great but it is significantly less than other cities. My thoughts…

Deep lots (like the 50x150 drawn here) are a challenge for urban scale single lot infill, but we need to look not just at the building - but also the urbanism that could be built out over time. These sketches show our “five/six” prototype (as detached, with side yard & without)

What happens to a state’s budget and economy once a state-supported passenger rail corridor is up and running? We looked at five years of comparative MoDOT economic impact data (2021 vs. 2026) for the Missouri River Runner—and the numbers offer a real-world case study for Ohio.

Having a train that takes you directly to the airport is genuinely one of the top 10 things a city can offer. No expensive taxis, no sitting in traffic, no begging someone to drop you off. Just get on the train and arrive at the airport. Every major city should have this.

Pennsylvania is increasing the frequency of their daily Amtrak service between Pittsburgh and NYC November 18th, there are still THREE Midwestern Amtrak routes with only 1 daily round trip, 2 of which are in Michigan. Midwest needs more rolling stock and more frequent service!!!

Heading to BLINK Oct. 8–11? With the event spanning more than 30 city blocks, your usual Metro route may take a different path. Check the detour maps below to plan your ride and use the Transit app to track your bus in real time.

Nearly every major city in the country had subway proposals that dwarf anything built and proposed today, and it’s sad we’ve lost that vision.

How are we even calling this BRT? Mixed traffic isnt RAPID at all. This is unacceptable. We need our council members to sound the alarm – at Cincinnati, OH

Today is the 10th Anniversary of the Cincinnati Streetcar. The streetcar is one of the top performing transit routes in our region, but we can drive additional investment along the line grow ridership even more by making these low-cost, high impact improvements.

Look at the rendering 👀👀👀 Shinkansen across the Ohio, anyone?

A person hit by a car at 25 MPH gets bumps & bruises. A person hit by a car at 40 MPH (15 over) gets a funeral. Most people don't yet understand the impact of speed. Marketing campaigns should be part of any Vision Zero action plan.
