There is also the erroneous idea that one does a PhD in order to « help society ». Some people are driven merely by intellectual curiosity or the imperative to shape debate on some issue.
It is on you if you think people do PhDs necessarily for your benefit…

Circa 2013 WASH actors like @WaterAidUganda @CIDIUganda used to organize periodical cleans ups in informal settlements of Kampala. We would provide incentives. Was still hard to get people. Serious mindset and behavioral shift needed. Then, we relied greatly on local community champions dubbed ‘advocacy champions’.

Circa 2010 we had a study tour at Luzira Prisons as cohort two of human rights. Then, significant number of offenses were sex related. Guess political ones have overtaken. The murder ones were gravitating around anger management.
